Call them, they have other lengths than what it says on the website. I had a similar predicament.

I fell in between the 278 - 282 range so probably more significant. Turns out they had 280.

Did you use SPA or sdeals ?
-
• #109
Spa, I wasn't aware of sdeals.
-
• #110
Does anyone in the comunitay have a truing jig? I have built wheels before without but I want to try and get this one absolutely spot on.
-
• #111
sdeals are good, when i managed to order the wrong length they exchanged them without a fuss. They even included a handwritten note which is nice.
-
• #112
I have a jig Dan, pickup from N16 or polo some time.
-
• #113
Splendid. Can one carry it whilst riding one's bicycle?
-
• #114
Anyone know where I can buy have some strongs? 278/280mm are like gold dust and chicken the distributor are out of stock. Online isn't really an option cus I'll be leaving soon
-
• #115
Push.
-
• #116
I've ordered with Push but its been 2 weeks now and they dont know when they'll have them cus the suppliers are out of stock. Condor might cut some down for me and roll new threads but thats gonna be around 80p per spoke

What tension are people running on their spokes in the front wheel? i've got straight guage spokes currently with an average tension of 97, but keep breaking spokes and have had to put a cover on (which i hate). whats the ideal tension to avoid breakages?
-
• #120
96.995
-
• #121
Ha!
-
• #122
nerdy jokes going over my head
-
• #123
There are too many variables to be honest, I imagine thicker spokes at lower tensions will break less than thinner spokes at higher tensions.
You're probably just going through an unlucky spell...
-
• #124
plain gauge spokes between 110-120. Do you have a wheel covers?
-
• #125
What's the conversion factor for "ping" when you pluck them?
No chance, no idea where to start.
Will pop into Push tomorrow and see if they can help out.
