I'm still waiting for my cash to land in Bitstamp. Kinda glad it didn't happen instantly or I'd have bought at $260... Just hope it arrives while price is low (although I'm only putting in a tiny bit for a little experiment/punt).

I messed around with a lot of those sites that give you free bitcoin for visiting websites, watching videos etc. I occasionally get a transaction come in for 0.0000000000000001BTC...

To anyone still following bitcoins, "The Bitcoin trading platform Mt. Gox in Tuwsday was issued a warrant that stopped its ability to send or accept transfers of the electronic currency through its Dwolla payment service."
And all this means? Nothing, it hasn't affected the market price, and Mt Gox are still trading.

If anyone wants to try bitcoin, but is finding it hard to buy some - the process is quite laborious at the moment - then this is a good site. You can pick up a few tiny fractions for watching YouTube clips - as in, watching 3-4 will pay you the equivalent of 0.1p. But if you want to have a play around with wallets, see how transactions work etc, it'd do.
You can always have the videos playing in a muted tab, if you were unscrupulous. But obviously that would be wrong etc...

This is an interesting story, the Feds arrested 'Dread Pirate Roberts,' alleged founder of largest Bitcoin drug market.” His site, Silk Road, collected 9.5 million in bitcoins, though only 11.75 million of the crypto-currency exist.

Don't mistake the turnover of the site for the number of bitcoins the site earned (collected) in commission.
"site had sales revenue of more than 9.5 million bitcoins"
"Mr. Ulbricht collected commissions of more than 600,000 bitcoins"
If a £10 note is spent 100 times during it's lifetime, at no point did it become worth £1,000.

I like how the Feds 'seize' the site.
Real name email address used to promote Silk Road and asking for Tor help on stackoverflow? The Forbes reporter also reckons the torture and murder claims are bogus. Some interesting stuff going down anyway.
I wonder how this will affect bitcoins and the other underground dealers?
