All the better chance of winning... that 13th best team in the UK is going on my CV ;)

Oh. I'm getting worse at the forum it seems. Where are all the teams then?

Finance and time?
Unfortunately getting to edinburgh isn't cheap (unless you fancy listening to Bill talk about Eric Zo for 9 hours on the megabus) and inbetween a few other big tournaments (Euro's/London Open) plus the time of year (more difficult to take time off) means that teams are probably having to prioritise a bit more than they had to last year when things were a bit more spread out/slightly less last minute.

Can you change Pesky Erections to Polo Erectus, it's now 2/3 of Polo Erectus playing.
-
• #257
I think lots of people can't do it so soon after the euros, plus it's a day of travel each way. This is the case for me at least.

Is our 2 places with hannah + eggpie confirmed? We may still need to sleep alex erectus & his wife & paul that we (dick move) ejected from our team, if he's still coming up, so will need to be either alex + wife, eggpie & i, or paul, eggpie & i, or if we get very lucky all 5, sorry to be awkward

To everyone complaining about it being expensive/far away/too close the the euros...
remember that it works both ways. All of us in the north who may or may not be dedicated polo players are essentially excluded from participating fully in the UK polo scene, because it is centred around London and places within reach of London.
This is entirely understandable and the London players have made great efforts to push polo forward in the last couple of years, but just try to imagine it from our point of view. If we had gone to the euros, and this tournament happened in London, then we'd have done even more travelling to attend both.
If it's a UK tournament, then some people will have to travel the length of the UK to attend. As there is a southern bias in terms of numbers of polo players, then it's fair that more tournaments are in the south. But they can't all be arranged in that way.

i don't think there is any complaints, just realistic banter. I for one would rather this had happened before the euros, but i didnt organise it so i can go and fuck off. I would love to come to this but honestly i'm weary and have my sights set on the london open. Glad cosmic are going to defend, i mean even with that charlatan rupert playing its better than those chavs spring break or those yayas nice touch winning.

Spring Break aren't Chavs, we're the liberated youth. Stop trying to keep us down, viva la revolution!

I agree wholeheartedly with what you are saying. Sheffield was a great example of an awesome tournament which was a bit of a journey but absolutely worth it.
The cost issue isn't a problem in itself, people can save up etc. But to pay for the train journey and potentially accommodation, then food, drink etc does take some saving and the tournament was only confirmed mid–May which only gave two paydays between the announcement and a month that already had three other major tournaments in the calendar.
Obviously only my opinion and I still wish I could make it.
This is the UK Champs thread?
