  • Damn. Though probably for the best.

Though cunty mccunt will sadly probably only get a verbal 'we've heard this' and not much else :/

  • Saw two cyclists nearly taken out by someone attempting a u turn on chelsea embankment without looking. Just swung out of the 2 lane traffic jam without a care in the world and come to a halt sideways across the opposite direction lane causing cyclists and motorbikes to come to an emergency stop.

Went past as he was saying "you're on my side of the road" to the two cyclists who'd nearly had a trip across his bonnet while filtering on the outside.

    Amazing.

  • Yeah, I don't expect much from it. All I had in terms of identifying the driver was a route number, a time and a slightly offensive description involving her weight.

not really worthy of the news thread. scores about a 1.3 on the epstein-o-meter. extra points for spelling her name correctly.

  • It amuses me that such anger can be generated in so many by so few minding their own business.

  • i honestly don't think she believes half of it. it's c-grade clickbait trollumism written by someone who's clearly been parachuted into an entry level 'journalism' job by mummy / daddy. avoid clicking if you can.

  • Probably, but I've heard the same nonsense from ex-friends mouth's when I've been a passenger in their cars. From this I extrapolated that this is indeed what a lot of drivers feel.

  • It’s hard to know where to begin when listing all that’s wrong with bikes...

But where better than a list of things that bear no resemblance to anything that happens in real life:

holding up traffic, causing accidents and generally being a total liability on the modern highway.

  • Aren't those sort of things solely written to wind up cyclists so they share them in outrage with their cycling mates?

  • pretty much. which is why no one should read it.

  • SIDE BY SIDE

This bit I loved. When I ride with my son, more often than not we're riding two abreast. We've generally not had any bother from anyone about this (we single out where it seems churlish not to), when I have recieved revs, clise passes & verbals over this I'm always so shocked: I'm riding with a kid, why would I not ride alongside him?!?

People like this prick Caster need to sped some time in Holland, Denmark, Columbia, Portland OR or wherever, and do stuff with friends on bikes, check out a museum, go to pub, that sort of thing. And check out how bloody sociable riding alongside your pals is.

  • People who write that stuff don't have pals, pal.

  • Better dressed and slower ride in today = did not arrive at my destination feeling like I'd been dunked in brine. 9/10 would saunter again.

  • Massive tail wind into work means I'm 15 mins early and locked out. (Friday means early people aren't at work) Feel Fully justified to go round the corner and sit down for a coffee and muffin :-)

  • This morning this fellow and I were kind of laughing at this miniclusterfuck on Union St SE1, a pratt on a bike in front if us really slowly sort of pushed out into a sitch where comfusing priorities make multiple vehicles all trying to turn / cross a four way wuth little room. We cyclists were popping out of an inadequate 'facility' (with a two metre 'Cyclists Dismount' joke section absolving planners if responsibility) that is just asking for this sort if dick move to get pulled. After me and my new pal chuckle at the 'me first' cyclist, when they we're definitely third or fourth in the who-was-at-the-junction-first queue, we chat a bit more along our way and I can def say I made a new a pal. Hi Rocky from Lithuania/Honor Oak Park.

  • Senior Reporter my hole. It's OK though because the Metro tag her post as an Opinion, isn't that what the comments section is for?

  • Left field suggestion - maybe we ought to collectively rise above it and not give traffic to people cashing in on the debate?

  • I got a death stare from a cyclist that was righteously scooting himself through the 'cyclists dismount' bit of pavement. I loled

  • down hill chain destruction. From the huge chunk out the cog I'm thinking some stone or metal must have been kicked up into the chain. particularly annoying as I was riding like an idiot and late for work.

went to LMNH old st. new bling bling gold chain and cog. Bit annoying, as was really hoping to save buying new drivechain stuff for spring.

  • Scooting has its place, I find the scoot-mount or dismount-scoot rather gentlemanly/gentlewomanly. But no need for putting the mental in judgemental with the old death stare.

  • The amount if times I see 'Cyclists Dismount' in a totally inappropriate way, sort of saying your journey isn't as valid as motorists' journies, makes me seethe. Then I just ignore them.

  • Stop using Alu sprockets

  • There's one on the upper Richmond Road cycle paint by Roslyn Park at the moment. The dismount sign seems to suggest you should push your bike along the pavement instead, however the pavement has also been halved in width by the roadworks. It's so narrow, you'd have to hope, as you pushed along its 40 meter length, no one was coming the other way or you'd be in a complete Mexican standoff. Madness.

  • Agreed. Ignore them every time. Glad I'm not alone. Less alone.
