You'll be early to home though. That's what counts.

I've done those Temple Meads steps plenty of times and @Jimmy_Fingers is right - it's sensible enough to carry the bike those two flights.
Carry it for as short as possible though. Nobody wants a greesy cog in the face on their way to work.

Empty trains, on time (SWT aren't Southern). Lurgy almost gone from chest.

People are cunts. London riding is terrifying. Driver reported.

Drugged, feet tied and put on trolley.
Poor horse.

-3 degrees when I left the house this morning. Brrrrrr......
Discovered that Sealskinz gloves, in addition to not being waterproof, are pretty useless at keeping your hands warm at these temperatures too.
Windchill was brutal: ears felt like they were about to drop off in one big frostbitten lump (Are earmuffs acceptable?), and arms went a fetching shade of purple (I guess something a bit warmer than a long sleeved jersey may be necessary).
Despite all this, the lack of traffic made it a creditable 7 out of 10

Miserably cold until reaching the inner limits and hands thawed out. Skull cap did the job, though wish I'd remembered my face mask. Hardly any other riders on road, thought I'd got the wrong day. /csb 8/10

Crisp morning. Good clothing selection and light traffic resulted in pleasant ride. On the flip side I'm at work. Booooo...

Saw one bloke this morning with shorts on. It wasn't me.
My gloves were a bit on the pissweak side this morning. Might see if Cycle Surg is open and grab a pair of those Spesh gloves someone was talking about recently.
Slow, cold, should've got Tube.

Unless you like to breathe.
I prefer a earwarmer/headwarmer because it doesn't need to cover most of your face to reach your ears.
Air make hippy go brrm brrm quick quick.

Saw a bloke on a Ken-cycle, sensible shoes, light chinos and short sleeved polo shirt. Also sporting a face like thunder and a slight blue tinge to his skin tone. I did want to ask how far he had come dressed like that but he didn't look to be in the mood for traffic light chit-chat.

There was a women this morning running in a skirt. I almost shouted "where are your tights!?" at her...

Rolled out of bed and thence to the bathroom. Brushed teeth, performed ablutions. Thence to the living room to open the curtains. Observed frost in the garden. Finding the kitchen warm and welcoming, went thither and set up my laptop for to "work from home", and there I sat all morning, finding it a very fine day indeed. 11/10

Woke up at my dad's at 10:30, some 190 miles form my workplace. Fixed his "computer problem" whereby he'd set Firefox to save email attachments without opening them first.
Packing my bags to go back to London. I only got heavy presents this year: bottles of booze, a Black and Decker Workmate, a cast iron coffee grinder...
I find my SealSkinz neither waterproof, nor warm these days.

Chilly commute, hand and feet a little unnerving, some silly driving who pretend it's actually 23 degrees today but otherwise fine.

If you don't want :

Versatility is the power behind snood.

I was thinking of a buff, which I've not done that with. Mine is a double thick Kathmandu one and wouldn't work like that.
Rode down Oxford St @ 6.30pm last night en route to buy personalised nutella.
3/10 for the masochistic enjoyment in ped dodging.
