  • Having to ride along the canal out to Wembley and just so so so many awful riders speeding towards me giving no space or riders attempting to do 30mph along the canal path overtaking almost putting themselves in the canal. I'm almost thinking of looking at other routes to just say fuck the canal and fuck riding on it.

    canal rant/10

  • You need to chill out and stop being so canally retentive.

  • I used to commute along there, stopped for exactly this reason. It didn't feel safe/appropriate to go as fast as I wanted so I changed to using Harrow Rd. Now I only use the canal when I want to chill in the sun!

  • My speed seems ok, I slow down plenty for pedestrians and others coming past just doesn't feel safe the speeds people race towards/past at. I might just do Harrow Rd next time I'm at that training center, even riding out to Dartford over Shooters Hill was better.

  • I don't understand why anyone would do any significant distance on a canal towpath unless it was for leisure.

  • Flipping hate the canal, it’s so awkward to ride at any pace consistently, so stop start, and then you have the non bell sprinters... nearly plunged a bloke into the water last week because he just flew down and I was already under the bridge, had no where to go! No idea how he stayed dry 😂

  • I'm on the canal for about 6 miles(out of 14) for the most part it just removes the need to remember a complicated route across a bit of London I don't ride often as I can just stay on the canal, it's crap but it's not take a wrong turn and only find out 10min later being late to deliver training crap. Very different on the canals North or East as they aren't that long and the alternatives are much better.

  • it’s so awkward to ride at any pace consistently

You just need to upgrade your equipment and it's a piece of piss.

  • Have you considered navigation training? :)

  • LFGSS pedalo day did it first and better.

    One Less Boat!

  • Yes but I couldn't find Cycling Urban Navigation Training Services.

  • Really? I understood they were everywhere.

  • Fucksake, if a Fly12 can't pick up a numberplate, what bike cam can? Got cut up by a fucking nutter on a scooter and have just a nice yellow blob of a number plate to go by. A reminder to self that cameras cant do all the work and yelling out the reg is more productive than yelling obscenities at the cunt.

  • I only ever use canal paths for a pootle on a weekend with the missus. They're full of dickheads at all other times.

  • Fly6 always seems to work. I've now finally got a mount for my Apeman front camera so look forward to "cunt"ing every dickhead in stereo.

  • Tried my new commute over Crystal Palace this morning. Had to get off and walk :(

  • Was it just my commute last night or was it mental out last night,

Incident 1 i am in the ASL and div on a scooter behind me starts bibbing to get out the way....the light was red. No bother I think, Im probably twice the size of her and her scooter not much can go wrong there.

Incident 2 down Evelyn road just past the petrol garage cyclist obviously sees the manhole cover being worked on late so swerves out and car behind takes offence to this so bibs, gets about a foot form their back wheel then swerves across when he gets in front to scare the cyclist

Incident 3 going around the greenwich one way and a van revs the bollox out of his un-roadworthy looking van to get on the inside of a lady cycling trying to use the left lane as she was turning left, cue mr 3 teeth wonky nose winding down the window saying she needs to pick a lane the c*nt. Class

Checked the gopro and this all happened within 4 minutes! I think some people misunderstood mental health day

  • I think some people misunderstood mental health day

    Classy

  • pikey wagon

    also classy

  • Ok I get that one

  • I cba to explain why suffering from mental health issues shouldn’t be used as an insult.

  • My point was that I was assuming (rightly or wrongly) the people on the scooter/van/car were not suffering from mental health issues normally but yesterday was some weird day where everyone seemed unnecessarily angry.

I am in no way mocking mental health issues

  • Now going through Crystal Palace park rather than up the road. So nice.
