Noddergeddon was incredible this evening heading through the city. So many bikes on the road, cars outnumbered easy. So much ridiculous filtering and overtaking going on but it was kind of great to see so many people on bikes.

Saw a guy on an ebike with 1 foot steerer stack, ebike, full-face helmet, riding on the pavement. ?????

• #22756
??? I take it you mean the footway?
-
• #22757
Aye. He was wearing hi-vis and tights so not like he'd just been out on some MTB trails. Some people eh?

It all seems a bit sad to me that people, even with electric assist, feel unable to face riding with other traffic.
That said, I do feel we should all have the right to choose to ride very carefully on a footway, esp when not being used by peds, if traffic conditions are just too horrible to consider riding in. I’m thinking London A Roads and suburban dual carriageways, that sort of thing.

Changed over from pursuits to 800mm(!?!?) risers last night.
@spiderpie Your risers are 0.8m wide! No wonder you think this place is all sensible.

it's all very responsible in here these days init.
I tried to find that picture of the good old days with scoble's braklss foot retentionlss bike. All I found was this https://www.lfgss.com/comments/9510298/ with a broken image, sadly.
I couldn't even find the posts about putting on the t[iy]re.

Yeah they're pretty fucked up, honestly.
my hands try to rest about 30mm from each side so they're gonna get a trim at the weekend. very fun for mashing up hills tho.

Very young kid on a way-too-big 1x cyclocross monster, by the side of the path. People just ignored him, so I stopped and asked if he was okay. He wanted a plaster for his bloodied knee but I don't carry wound repair. Shoulda given him a snack but I wasn't thinking. Sorted out his chain that was stuck against the BB and off he went. Pretty badass kid, he held back the tears and everything for such a bit graze.
Probably see him tomorrow, a colleague I ride with says he sees him often in the morning. Will ask how his knee is if we meet en route.
Also, the whole path being dug up is a massive pain, on a pinch-point on the commute. Must remember to use main carriageway tomorrrow.

Cycling along a beautiful suburban road about 400m from my front door in the sticks on my way to the station this morning and a Tool in a Nissan pulled out of side road on a t-jn and proceeded to veer all the way across empty road until I was pushed over the kerb, they can only have missed the kerb themselves by about 10cm. Utter utter cunts.
Heard van zoom past a few seconds later and then come back my way. Lovely people had a photo of the numberplate and told me to report it. Some faith restored.
Still feel shaky.

Anyone else see the Brompton rider get knocked down by a van yesterday (or are you on here?) in Camberwell? I was further away and didn’t see the accident but heard it. Traffic was gridlocked so the guy was obliged to get out and check on the rider who was thankfully ok. He didn’t spend so much as a couple of seconds with him before shaking his hand and getting back in his van and driving off down a side road.
Felt like one of those situations where a driver has fucked someone up then taken advantage of the fact they are shaken to basically say ‘you ok mate’ and get a hand shake off them before driving off. Didn’t look like any details were exchanged (regardless of who was potentially ‘at fault’) and I wasn’t close enough to read the plates.
Hope he’s still ok and the damage to the Brompton isn’t extensive

Lovely morning.
My flat cap has migrated from my Tweed Run outfit to my commuting gear.

Northbound cycle lane on southwark bridge is closed so pedestrians can walk along it while they work on the pavement.
would be nice if there was any kind of indication of this before you get there and it's just blocked shut.
traffic was bumper to bumper tipper lorries the entire way along so only way across was to ride down the middle of the two lanes with just as many tipper lorries coming the other way. including one twat who was driving about 2 foot away from the concrete barrier on his left and shouting at the cyclists who were filtering out of his window that they were too close to him.

Annoyingly I'd been considering using Blackfriars just for a change this morning, and I shelved the idea. Should have gone with it.

Hah. I changed from Airwings to risers a couple of weeks ago: Much better for my lung expansion but I'm still doing gaps full cringe.

Very sunny but a very fresh wind this morning. Got out the house 20 minutes early so meandered around some very quiet streets generally. Witnessed an almost-collision. Did some sprinting. Generally very lush.

Sunny but quite cold. Nice cycle down, one close pass but well that's par for the course every so often.
