  • Unless it's good as wall art it's the bin. Pretty sure that foam isn't recyclable and other than using the pads in another helmet there's not much else.

  • Fell off when my front wheel caught a raised bit of paving.

Caught a puncture 20 minutes later.

Haven't replaced the patches & tubes that in used last week and the week before.

At least 2km from the nearest bike shop, that doesn't even open for another 30 minutes.

Stranger doubles back to give me a spare tube.

  • You need wider, thicker tyres.

But also, cool! Can't imagine that happening outside of some kind of cycling event.

  • Managed to slip on a leaf as I turned off CS7 this morning. Comedy low speed topple and ended up just sat on my arse. Nothing but pride hurt, and a wet arse. Lady walking by said it was the most graceful fall off a bike she'd ever seen 9/10.

  • Keep it until a/the manufacturer/retailer of your choice offers a 'Trade In'?

  • Cheers thread, will probably just bin it.

  • I cracked one of mine and used it for another nine years but I have a particularly think skull. I know, because they send so when they drilled into it.

  • Some manufacturers have a crash replacement scheme, worth checking?

  • Unfortunately I've had it for longer than the Kask replacement scheme covers and I also do not have the original proof of purchase which places like Wiggle require in order to qualify for a replacement...

  • Some absolute fucking weapons this morning, let the first few wash over me, then I couldn't take it any more and lost my shit at a bus driver, who decided the best thing when he saw me shouting at him was to just slam on the brakes, and throw his hands in the air. He did not wave them like he just didn't care, but he did rob me of my opportunity to call him a cuntface within hearing distance. All riled up from this shitshow of a commute I managed to cut up about 10 MAMILs on their way up the ramp into Canary Wharf and made myself look like a total nobber.

Nah - they all thought it was a bunch sprint hilltop finish and relished the experience.

  • PWEI were the second band I saw live, Bradford students union about 1995 ish.

I was stage crew for that gig. If you surfed over the barrier I'd of picked you up and sent you on your merry way to do it again.

  • Had to check the calendar when I got in this evening. Yes, definitely the Cuntieth of November. Harangued by a fat ugly witch as I delayed her for two seconds while pedallng uphill into a right-hand filter lane (returned her observations, with special compliments), nearly doored by a passenger (who just looked up and smiled. What to say...) and close-passed by a school coach (nearly caught up at a roundabout but ran out of steam.)

If I was riding in I would like this.

Do I know one of them?!

    I'm so excited!!!

  • Is it much better to be harangued by pretty witches? :)

    Sounds like a fun commute...

  • First week on 48:16 and it's still feeling a bit spinny on the commute (Tooting CS7 > Rosebery Ave > Liverpool Rd > Hornsey Rd > Archway). Am I just too powerful and godlike? [pouts > looks in mirror while typing one-handed].

Uh. What? Yeah. CS7 still wall-to-wall bells.

  • Apologies to witches for that pejorative use, most unfair; but not to drivers who hang out of windows to point out their failure as human beings is, in some way, my fault...
Anyway, had a much nicer morning today, angry-motorist free.

  • Deliberately took the cobbles detour through soho today. Loving 42c tyres!

  • Oh, a real charmer then, it's always fun to get blamed for other people's mistakes ;)

  • Am I just too powerful and godlike?

Probably. 48:16 ought to be good for 30mph when pressing on. If you’re regularly going quicker than that on your commute you’re a god to me at least.

  • erm.

  • 90rpm is not pressing on. That's a leisurely bimble. 120-130rpm is pressing on. Spin to win.

  • True, I wouldn't say that 130rpm is a normal commuting cadence though.
