Oh dear. What did they say?

WTF? It's not obligatory.

Tell them to do one.

Apparently my cycling is dangerous and I'll get myself killed by a truck...
I didn't break it to him that I am a cycle instructor, his boss or some newspaper can do that.

Looking forward to this footage.

Also interested, since I recently started using the roads around Oval on what might be a semi-regular basis, and still trying to work out the best/safest way of either using or ignoring the cycle lane infrastructure around there and up to Vauxhall and Nine Elms. Tis very confusing.

So basically my riding here was just like this other guy uploaded but then with me making a signal right and pulling out into the right lane to go towards E+C.

aaaah plod... the saffas of the road. never met a nice one.
well handled.

where he pulled you over there is the complete opposite of safe. riding through the junction and then pulling over was much safer than stopping along that bit.
but then he did use his 30 years of driving experience to expertly park in a way that impacts two lanes of traffic.

I notice he had nothing to say about the motorcycle rider who'd stopped past the ASL on a red.

• #12516
Not that they should stop in the ASZ at all...

Suspiciously sunny...second day in a row. Checked weather, giving sun the whole day too.
Armageddon is coming.

Not that they should stop in the ASZ at all...
If they've already passed the first stop line (on a green) and the light turns red before they pass the second stop line then they're perfectly entitled to be in the ASL box.
It's often the result of poor anticipation but sometimes you just get fucked over by the vehicles in front of you.

The extra 'taking your name' attempt at intimidation is a nice touch too.

Crikey. I stand by my earlier WAC.
Presumably you're going to escalate this somehow?

Can I have my five minutes back?

Seems to me Mr 30 years of police driving didn't like you saying 'Calm down mate' as he hooted at someone else. Wind your neck in and you can ride where you like. You filtered off the 'cycle superhighway' into the other part of the road as he was pulling from the lights, which without knowing if you signalled, looked, or had reasonable space to do that, it's hard to say if he had a point that your riding sucks a bit. Basically, I can see his point. As for the hooting and then sirens, it seems to me he was just getting riled up by you more, and he's wrong to imply you didn't stop when he used the accepted method (siren) in good time.
You could have apologised for riding unexpectedly in the road from the cycle track, and you could have remained more friendly.
Have you considered cycle training?

He was right about the purpose of the horn. It is to alert other road users to your presence, IIRC.

Indeed
Pulled over by police for not using the cycle lane by oval...
3/10?
