This morning's commute and other commuting stories

Thank fuck I cycled in then. Good luck to all miserable sods stuck on trains full of drunk twats tonight.

I'm taking an "If you can't beat 'em..." approach.

Boris Bike this am. Got last free dock on arrival. 10/10

Not out drinking tonight though and can't Boris Bike home so I expect karmic non-cycling commuting balance will be restored by the end of the day with an almighty shitty tube journey home.

Rode the train and tube to work for first time since moving to new cross. It was hell. I sweated more on the train than on my bike, I was (indeed still am) incredibly hung over and I'm off out for work drinks today/tonight. To cap it all, my right headphone stopped working.

If there were Boris bike docks in Balham I'd definitely have used one.

Total chilled ride in on empty roads.

My commute this morning involved driving down to bexley majistrates, waiting around for a bit before hearing that the guy who knocked me off my bike 6 months ago.

After initially pleading not guilty had decided to actually plead guilty to all of the charges.

Apparently was in hospital today considering his disqualification, not sure what this means, anyone know?

The police investigation was slow but ended up somewhere. He gets a choice of a BeLessOfAShitDriver (Driver Alertness) course or a day in court. Not sure what he'd be charged with (driving without due care and attention I expect) but the CCTV footage I have will put him away if he chooses that! I would have been very pissed off if nothing had happened - I handed it to the Met on a platter...

How long did yours take? Mines 6 months and counting

Just shy of three months. Once the solicitor and insurer were talking it went fairly quickly. The amounts weren't huge (for an insurer anyway) so they probably didn't want to waste too much of their time.
Hope you get what you're due, take no shit from the insurers!

Walking down Islington High Street this morning, some dick in Tory student chic (long camel jacket, scarf etc...) on a brakeless single speed peugeot. I'll be honest, for guys like that one is actively willing the inevitable demise.

Holidays next year are sorted!

Christmas week traffic is glorious. Plenty of green lights too, at least 10 minutes quicker over my 10 mile commute.

My 6 mile commute was hilariously quiet.

Have worked out the exact moment a bus will start to pull out from a bus stop, is when you front wheel is level with their back wheel.

Also had a car behind me who for what ever reason wouldn't overtake I moved over, slowed down but they seemed quiet happy to sit behind me great, then I thought I wonder if they will try and over take as I start to move over for the right turn ahead.....like one mind.

brilliantly quiet.
Tesco had no jam doughnuts and only decaf coffee. poor start to the week.

Had a great commute in. Couldn't put a finger on it to begin with, there was plenty of motorized traffic. Then it clicked, no bike commuters. No shoaling, under-taking and generally trying to do every other road user over. A couple of them tried to spoil the party on Borough High Street, but my good mood was set by then.

Annoying thing is I think this is the only day I'll be cycling this week. Party tomorrow night, cinema on Weds and then I think WFH on Thursday.
