  • Dump them at newt, by the piss wall (not at the pissing point though)

  • All we need now is a bit of shit-talking and some money being shown ... who wants to bet they'll finish higher than chukker's team?

  • Chukker will finish higher than everyone.

  • i have short zip-ties i can bring, but at a mere 16cm each, they may not be up to the challenge.

  • also, if axles being cut down is actually going to be enforced, it's worth people doing it at home rather than 30 people queuing for a file and not getting on the court.

    so file your axles now!

should be fine. bring them along, cheers.

  • I haz the lurgy, so may or may not make it down to help out.

  • I'll put £5 on Spring Break finishing higher than any team of your choice. I'll only take one bet though. Oh and I won't be accepting any bets from Spring Break ;)

  • I'll bet £5 that TNT finishes higher than you think they will

He thinks they will finish lower than Spring Break. This is a bet. Witnessed.

  • It's not really a bet though, as he's not said TNT will finish higher than Spring Break. I'm being serious though, I'll make that bet if someone wants to take it.

  • You've made your opinion clear on where you think every other team will finish (second or worse). He's made his opinion clear that he thinks his team will do better than that (i.e. what you think/second or worse). Logic dictates! Bet! Bet! Bet!

  • nah, just a good gambler ;)

  • If Lebowski says he thinks TNT will finish higher than Spring Break, for £5 I'll take it.

  • No, my bet wasn't in reply to your bet John. I was putting it out there to the masses.

  • shame...

  • I'm not trying to be pedantic, hell I'm not even playing tomorrow, but clarification on axles being chopped down... 5mm protrusion, 3mm, flush with nut?

  • flush with nut

  • 2.2.4 - All axles must be cut and filed to be flush with the nuts.

Safety issue mainly I think (cue horrific NA photo of wound).

  • Did anyone get a good photo of danny's (?) injury at KH?
I think that was caused by an axel (?)

  • Why is a couple mm of axle more dangerous than than a nut? (actual question).

  • Is putting a second nut on an acceptable alternative to filing down?
(not playing tomorrow, but need clarification for future tournies?)

Beaten to the question by Mark, but still stands, my frame is a bit wider than the wheel so need the extra thread to fit it... Hmm I guess putting washers inside the nuts would work just as well...

  • We're not writing the rules, just abiding by them, so you should probably ask Alej over on LOBP. As far as I understand it, the problem is any unnecessary protrusions from your bike. Axles were raised as an issue in the NA ruleset a few months back (?) after a nasty injury (a split shin and gouged bone from an axle).

I'm not certain there's a legitimate reason for having long axles, hence the addition to the rules (I guess). Nuts on the inside of a frame makes sense and is safe...

A few mm of axle doesn't sound like a problem to me, but it'd be hard to put that as a rule and it might not get properly enforced? Hence, the "flush with nut" wording and zero tolerance in NA?

The accident you're talking about was from a chainring-cum-bash-guard if I'm not mistaken.

Anyway, I agree, long axles are dumb. But I have about 2mm showing and having to cut that fucker down for the sake of pedantry is a bit annoying.
