Before I opened this topic, I thought you meant this:

Are they long enough to tie a hipster to a lampost by his neck ?
-
• #29
I dunno what the chain element is, but a flat metal weave will be easier to cut throught than a round/square section I would imagine.

Why are none of the bikes locked incorrectly? Makes it look like the lock is too wide to pass through a wheel.
Needs to be investigated. When are the histershops™ geting stock.

.
A mates kid did that to my septum tunnel one Christmas then the little fucker pissed off for 4 hours to play with his mates.
His mum was not happy but as we were drunk we though it was hilarious.

Needs more groups to test all variables...
hipsters locks pushed over
hipsters locks upright
hipsters no locks pushed over
hipsters no locks uprightConsider then having the same 4 groups but remove hipsters and replace with normal folk
Maybe even repeat all 8 groups but without bicycles, to measure the effects of simply falling vs falling off a bike.
Hipster Mythbusters special ? They're in San Francisco, so should be no shortage of test subjects

No thanks, I'll stick with Kryptonite's finest d-locks.
Judging from the website, it's clearly not marketed at me anyway...

they need to make it clearer on their site what sold secure rating it has (silver according to the sold secure website) as for all we know it could have been bronze which is only one step up from a cheesestring in security terms.
I don't think it's too bad an idea though, elf and safety concerns aside.
£70 is ridiculous for a silver secure lock though but you expect to pay some kind of hipster tax if it has the word hip in the product name I guess, target markets and all that.

having just had a closer look at the design you could probably knock up a webbing cover with built in belt buckle and belt strap for any chain lock on the market that pretty much does the same thing as this. would be interesting to see if they would violate the pending patent as well.

Just whap a disclaimer on it in fine print:
Intorducing the Hiplock belt, the lock you can wear as a belt!*
*Not to be worn as a belt.
-
• #38
Its fine if you have a small Krypto to carry on your belt, but i have which is way to long, big and heavy to be carried on my belt.
That only leaves my bag. PLus i have an Abus. Now, how do you carry that without locking it around your waste?
-
• #39
A mount on your frame?
-
• #40
And the falling over part?
What do you mean?
-
• #41
ha!
-
• #42
ha! ok.
-
• #43
why does it not mention the internals or the security of the lock anywhere on the site?
-
• #44
Because it is not a lock it is a belt*.
*Not to be worn as a belt.

• #45

• #46
why does it not mention the internals or the security of the lock anywhere on the site?
Cause then everybody would have heard about it?
-
• #47
Whats all the fuss about.
Cant see Hipsters hurting themselves, pushing their bikes while wearing lock belts.

• #48

Judging by your fine body you also carry these

I agree that falling off wearing a big chain isn't a good idea, but seeing as a few people have mentioned the cutting it off thing - that's one of the selling points, that it isn't locked to you when you're wearing it, so it can be taken off easily in an emergency... s'on the website.

I wear a krypto chain and mini-d around my waist when cycling, but instead of locking it to itself I've put a toestrap through the second link of the chain and through the lock - it's adjustable and quick to come off, and it costs about £2.50.
(It clearly doesn't solve the falling-off issue, although I once crashed when wearing it and the ambulance dude undid it, no bother)
