Really? The 1080 might've been but the 808 seems unlikely. It'll be discussed on timetriallingforum somewhere..
Yep, it was 1080 and 2 years ago, somewhere in Kent: http://www.cyclingweekly.co.uk/news/latest/369531/wiggins-faces-disqualification-after-winning-kent-valley-rt-10.html

How deep are these?
-
• #679
I believe that they are 50mm.
I will check the manifest when I get into the office.
-
• #680
They look relatively shallow next to the 88mm I admit.
If Jim reads this maybe he could stick the verniers on them?
-
• #681
50mm according to the invoice, with a 60 and an 88 for Tiswas.

• #682
You should've just got some H+sons.

Hater

• #684
Yeah carbon is much cooler
-
• #685
Are these being built up now Dammit or did you sell them on?
-
• #686
Your having the 88/50 pair one are you not? I'm still tempted with a pair of 88mm's off eBay but i thought Jim had some issues over building them up?
-
• #687
The 88mm from batch #1 is identical to the 88mm from batch #2.
Jim was always happy with that rim.
His issue was with the 56mm from batch #1 in that he did not have confidence in their use with brakes, due to some voids (now filled with epoxy) in the carbon- see the picture up thread.
Dov is using these rims (20 spoke front/24 rear) on the track regulaly and this is what Jim recommends these rims are used for- without the stresses imposed by braking (heat and so forth) he reckons they will be fine.
To sum up- Jim was unhappy with building the 56mm for road use with rim brakes, he would have built them up as track wheels though.
By that token you could run them as "Brakless Hipster", but as they are tubs this would be a brave, and possibly expensive thing to do.

Ah cool, cheers for the update Neil, so you sent a set back hence "batch 1 & 2" ?
I'd be after them for the track bike anyway, the time has come for novelty wheels... oh dear...
-
• #689
Still got both batch #1 and batch #2.
Batch #2 are being built up, batch #1 are sat in their box in Brixton Cycles- I looked at sending them back for a refund but it would have cost me a fortune in postage.
They are for sale if you are interested in them- for track use they'd be fine.
I want to use the wheels for Alpine descending, and obviously whilst my balls are so large I have to use three saddles even I will still admit to using the brakes to slow down from 50mph, so batch #1 was not for me.

Yeah i PM'd you a couple of weeks ago about the 88mm/50mm pair - would you let the 88mm rim go on its own?
-
• #691
I'd really prefer not to, it would mean that I'd end up with an orphan 20H 56mm.
However, I won't rule it out as the money would come in handy.
Put it this way- if you took a 56/88mm pair I'd happily let them go for £150, for the 88mm on it's own I'd want £100 as I suspect I'd have problems shifting the 56mm front on it's own.

any links to where the site for these neil?

• #694
And these are the 88mm rims, £225 delivered for a pair
The one on the left:

• #695
How much for the pair of 56mm?
-
• #696
Probably what they cost on eBay, without the £35 postage and the (possible) customs and VAT charge.
Comes with the bonus of "get them at once", if you are in London of course.

Been looking at this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170622028082&ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123 and have been trying to work out what it means by "The seat mast is Iron." Anyone?
Also, this was posted on bikeradar or weightweenies or something having been bought off one of these chinese sellers and it looks pretty fantastic as far as I can see:

A quick search of "the seat mast is iron" pulls up a thread from a tri-forum.
http://www.tritalk.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1216891
Which looks like a similar thread to this one. Possibly some insight there.
