• Are these any good?

Are these any good? Is 28h and 32h overkill for 60mm rims for track use?

    Edit: Found the 20/24h versions

    20/24 would be better.

    I'd get matt finish.

They isnt much else there to comment on.

Mat just looks loads better in the flesh.

    Thats not opinion. Thats trufax.

The weight seems spot on. Not porky, not scary light. But what can you say from a pic and zero info.

Got a reply from my email to them about more specs. Didn't ask about UD finish.

    130psi

Maximum recommended rider weight =/< 100kgs

    wide : 20.5MM

    regular spoke nipples

  • That all looks pretty standard. 20.5 isnt too skinny either.

  • Yeah, I think I might try them out. Not right now though, gotta save some pennies.

This is there none ebay site: http://flyxii.com/

  • I think I'm gonna get a pair of these for my seta in the new year, will probably relace the rear to a fixed/fixed hub before next track season.

  • So, my rims are in the UK with parcelforce at the 'international hub'.
They have been 'forwarded for UK processing' after sitting at 'awaiting customs clearance' for 2 days.
Have I escaped the dreaded tax?!?

  • Nope

  • Well, you might have. But you might not. Depends what Mr. HMRC decided at the customs clearance stage. You won't know until it's delivered to the local delivery office. If there's tax to pay the status will say 'Held pending payment of charges' or summat like that. If not, it'll say it's out for delivery or just turn up. Could go either way...

  • Meh,
In the time it took me to write that, they're now at the 'national hub' saying 'received and processed'. If I am so lucky as to avoid charges, when do you find out?

    #edit# just seen above. Thanks

  • Not yet, if HMRC has charged you parcel force will add their admin fee and send you an invoice which when you pay the parcel gets cleared. In that case the next status should be on the lines of awaiting payment or something.

  • Looks like I might have been lucky. It's move to the London Central depot and is on the truck for delivery. SURELY I can now count my chickens?

  • yep

  • They might send you an invoice after delivery. Quite why they think you'll still pay up is beyond me.

  • And delivered without charges.
Will endeavour to get some pics up/thoughts on quality/finish tonight .
Won't be too happy if I get a letter from George Osborne demanding the charges after the fact.....

  • nice one!

  • Jammy. Fair play to you.

  • A pair of 50mm carbon clincher rims. They're the new 2014 ones with a U shape and are 23mm wide.
You won't be catching me weighing my gear but they're 860g for the pair if that's important to you. 20/24H. Going to mate them with Hope Pro 3's. 3k matt finish.

  • Yes you can. They're going on my Colnago roadbike.
Farsports Sent me an email to say the recommended brake area is 5mm under the sidewall lip.
I'll be using Swissstop yellow pads.

  • Haven't Swissstop introduced a newer, better carbon pad?

  • Cheers. Thinking about a pair then getting a shop to build them up. Maybe black novatec track hubs (or something else not too sure).

If you get some photos up it'd be great.

  • Haven't Swissstop introduced a newer, better carbon pad?

    Black Prince I believe....

  • racists

  • Isn't £35 for brake pads taking the piss?

  • brakearedeath

  • Bikedomeworks seem to be out of stock for the 20/24h Novatec hubs I wanted. Does anywhere else sell the Bolt on versions nice and cheap?

    These ones:
