^ +1. I've asked a few people on here as I'm about to get some complete wheels (this week).
I'm probably going for Far Sport, I think. Unless someone can recommend anything better?

Weightweenies said Hongfu last I checked.

How did your wide rims work out Dov?
-
• #2463
Just in case anyone else needs dental implants, my dad had his done in Barcalona. It was cheaper for both of us to go out there and stay for 5 days than it was to have the work done in the UK by the same dentist.
I actually do need some expensive dentistry done at some point. Was it literally the same dentist?!

As well as someone else IIRC. Too lazy to check. Google 'wide carbon rims'

The Spanish dentist my dad had also has a practice in Barca. I don't know for sure if he is still there, but yes. Exactly the same guy who was doing the rest of his work in London did it in Barca.
From what I remember the reasons for the reduction in cost were:
- Surgery required general anaesthetic – so anaesthetist + surgeon + premises/etc. were all cheaper
- He allowed filming and student viewing.
That practice is very good value. The service can be a bit Ryanair at times and obviously going on Sat mornings is ramajamed. But the actual treatment my folks have got has been better than our old family dentist who's prices just seemed to keep rising at a ludicrous rate*.
There was also a piece on R4 a while back about East bloc dentists having temporary practices over here. So there must be quite a lot of options.
- or probably in proportion to the rental cost of her premises.

[Why] Are these better than the ones Planet X sell for £100?
-

PX are tubs for starters and are a trad deep v profile not new school fat aero

Supposedly better profile, wider rims which definetly makes for a smoother ride and tubeless

Whats the score on Tax for stuff from hongfu? What am i likely to get hit for?
-
• #2471
If you are in the UK then it's a bit of a lottery- sometimes you get the package with no duty charged, other times you will pay duty.
Best to budget for the wheels with duty, then if it doesn't happen it's happy time, rather than the other way round.

20% VAT on the goods and the shipping, plus ~5% duty on the goods, plus £15 fee from the carrier for being the HMRC's hired goons shaking you down.

That's on declared value though.
When I bought a frame from china a few years ago I'm sure it was shipped at a value of $50, still didn't get caught with tax mind.

Agree with this. Basically i'll just keep hold of my tubs budget until the wheels arrive. No Tax= Instant tubs, Tax= Wait a month
dunno, i like it
