• Come on folks, get your cheap crabon here. Guarantee to make you go 5mph faster at all times or your money back. Only cost little bit dorrah

  • Tempted by a pair of clincher rims to go on my road bike...

  • I'll post the price list later - I'm definitely up for something, maybe rims only maybe a wheelset. We shall see.

  • I'd probably go for a pair of FSW20-C 20mm clinchers. Just trying to convince myself that I actually need a new pair of road wheels for hills.

As a very rough guess I've probably got six months or so left in my current lightweight rims and a couple of months in the hubs...hmmmm...

  • I think you should go for tubs Dan, if you are going to get a silly wheelset at least be committed to your decision.

  • I've managed to come to that conclusion in my head several times already! Sooo tempted. The problem is that I know that I'll decide I need to upgrade my road bike to match if I built myself a really lightweight pair of tubs. These are only going on a 2009 FP2 which is hardly the lightest Pin ever made...

Maybe I should get a pair of clinchers and a pair of tubs.

Actually, problem solved. I'll build some carbon tubs for my carbon Dolan and stick to clinchers on the road bike.

  • For my Sunday ride I had a stretched tub, roll of tape and can of Vittoria Pitstop in my pocket.

Thankfully none of that was needed, but in a funny kind of way I want to get a p_nctr just to get it out of the way, if that makes sense.

I didn't use to believe it, but tubs really do have a nicer ride quality than clinchers, also.

  • comfort = relative

I simply cannot be arsed with tubs I'm afraid

  • Well, in terms of being arsed, I pump them up to 130-140 PSI on Sunday morning, then go out the door- not much effort needed.

  • ^ this will change when your shelling out on tyres after each puncture.

  • Tubs arent as much hassle as everyone is making them out to be if you go with tape. Or so I've been told.

  • But they do ride nicely.

  • Not much hassle, just constant expense.

  • Get your missus to undo the seams and fix that shit up with a needle and thread!

  • ^ this will change when your shelling out on tyres after each puncture.

I'm training my cats to be able to fix them

  • Purrrfect.

Neil, guaranteed a puncture now. You know this. Good luck old chap ;)

  • OK chaps hopefully the price list with piccies should be attached to this.

A couple of things to note -

    1. We probably won't meet the minimum order size so add 20% to the final price.

    2. Shipping is around $80 and I believe that's for the complete order, not each. Well, as long as we get them shipped to the same address.

    3. There is a PayPal surcharge of 4%

    4. The usual we may get stung for import duty disclaimer blah blah blah.

  • Where did the 20% come from? I thought the 80 dorah included the minimum order charge

  • As I understand it, and I'm sure Dammit will be along to correct me if I'm wrong, there is a 20% surcharge (sample price) if not ordering quantities that would be considered 'trade'.

See the 'tubular rim to Neil' pdf.

Hopefully we can get enough together and get them to drop / reduce this. Fingers crossed.

  • I'm def in for a pair of 20mm clinchers.

I'll have a think about building myself a badass tubular track wheelset when spring comes around.

  • Where did the 20% come from? I thought the 80 dorah included the minimum order charge

If you look at the PDF's there is a column marked "MOQ" which is "minimum order quantity".

We are buying from a wholesaler here, and they normally deal in volume, thus there is a penalty charge of 20% if we don't hit the MOQ.

I paid it last time, it was annoying for sure, but (for me) not a dealbreaker.

As an example, this 60mm carbon rim from Tokyo fixed gear is £370, and it is available from Farsports as a built up wheelset for £300.

  • MOQ for wheelsets is 10, I don't know if it is meant ot be 10 of the same type however.

  • I'm happy to order in with you guys or buy seperately...whatever is most beneficial really.

  • Hmm, I cannot see a surcharge amount on the wheelset price list- can anyone else?
