Are you writing down all the advice, Neil? I will probably go for the same wheels once I get a new road frame (from China).
They need some serious bladed spokes. -
• #103
Yep, will post them up.
you can buy complete wheel sets for £254, just search "56mm carbon wheel set", I am building them just because, really.
If you get some please report back?

• #104
EEI- agree on the spokes but bladed spokes are just so expensive, £3 a spoke!
-
• #105
True. Someone from the forum had a huge stash of them, remember?
-
• #106
Must have missed that

As for buying a whole wheelset, I prefer to go step by step to fit all the expenses around my monthly budget.
The only thing is, once an item costs over $100 you are hist by custom duty, so it's good to buy cheaper bits separately. Pity postage adds to the price for the purpose of the VAT an customs. -

Just been looking on Carbonzone, they don't seem to do the 56mm as a rim only, 50mm or 60mm available as a rim and 56mm available as a built wheel... I'm confused, fancy a build with the Uni.Q grey hubs but I might just go for the built Carbonzone wheels. Weight difference is negligable anyway, putting them on my '70s Koga-Miyata so it's still not going to be weight weeny light...

I'm getting mine from Carbon Bicycle I think it is- just send them a message
-
• #110
Ah might just go for the pre-built ones, this may come as a slightly stupid question but I will have to change my brakepads right? Cork pads for Carbon rims is it?
-
• #111
Yep, check-in I think they include pads with a wheelset.
I have just bought some Swiss Stop yellow's for this purpose.
-
• #112
Also tempted, think I'm going to stock up on relatively cheap crabon fibber bits for the Koga-Miyata in time for summer, maybe a CF fork to boot, not much choice in thread CF forks though, might swap the headset... I can see this getting out of hand...

anyone came across low profile rims like these?

-

~£265 shipped for the complete wheelset- email them and ask how much the rims would be?
If you do could you update this thread with the price?
-
• #115
very tempted by these, think i might get a set of the clinchers if the feedback is good
-
• #116
can't find the clinchers as a wheelset, only as rim only...
-
• #117
Smallfurry pointed out that some alloy rims have trouble retaining high pressure clinchers, asking unreinforced carbon to do so is quite possibly asking for trouble.
The rims that he is using are reinforced with Kevlar around the sidewall area to cope with clinchers.
I weighed it up and decided that as these are my "race wheels"* that I would take the plunge and get the tubs, my training wheels are clinchers.

I just use them for commuting and when I get a puncture I throw the wheels away.

Very wise.

Not quite the same, but I just bought a fake(ish) exposure front light from the east for 0.01 with 4.69 postage, anyone used one of these before, will it be utter rubbish? who knows...

link?

I'm looking to hire these chaps to follow me around when I go cycling:
-
• #124
here postage seems to vary for every light, although they seems to be all the same, roughly..and I was using this exposure light for comparison..

I've got one of those, great lights very bright. For that price i would have been happy with just the front light, but getting the back one too is a bonus.
I bought mine after meek.tv recommend it to me, currently jonny two hats is using it, and he was so impressed he's just ordered one for himself.
Have you links for the seller of the rims and uni.q hubs? Think I might go for same build myself. Cheap way to lose a lot of weight!
