My Garmin 520 keeps disconnecting from segment tracking when the segments are more than 30 minutes long by the looks of it. Most annoyingly happening on Richmond Park 3 laps and Regents Park 6 Laps. Whats the craic? Is this an adjustable parameter or limitation of the device?
-
• #4453
You're just gonna have to get those segments to below 30 mins

Consistiently impressed at how good OSMand is.

What's the go-to (as the Americans say) Garmin mount these days?
This plastic Garmin one at £20? Or this aluminium Lifeline one at £11.43?
(Sadly my Barfly gave up the ghost after several years, and the lifetime warranty replacement voucher isn't really worth it once UK shipping, tax and customs admin are factored in... so I'm hoping to sell it to someone in the US in classifieds)

This one has been reliable for the last few years for me.

Ah - but that does not mount the Garmin low down, so the screen is flush with the top of the bars, as is de rigeur these days. Actually have one somewhere though, and I'd use it if I could find it...

I have one similar to the lifeline and find it a bit meh.
I like the previous version of this one from superstar components and I am sure this one will be just as good.

Your Garmin help, please.
The elevation page on my 800 isn't working. The altitude reading is correct, but it displays as a flat line. Any idea?

Is this when you are following a course or just riding?
Additionally if you wish to add elevation data to a gpx files created by most route creation websites go here and run the gpx through to add the requisite data.

No, I don't believe anywhere repairs them. But Garmin will replace out-of-warranty Edges with a factory refurbished one for about £70. Have done this with two smashed 705s years back and the other week with an unreliable 810. Details on website, but you need to call their warranty dept. Very swift.

Do yu know if theres warranty still? Replace it that way or pay for refurbished one

How can I stop my Garmin routing me onto N-roads in France? It keeps putting me on the N10, which is about as fun as the A30.

Excellent work. Any plans for add-on memory modules to allow more laps?

Good shout. These are bespoke: simply state your upper limit.
The model shown is the 10 lapper in hand died wooden beads. I've a cultured pearl version in the pipeline and the wife has ordered something tasty in amber.
Tell me your preference and I'll quote. BTW this doubles up as on board worry beads..

Nice work. Should be considerably more waterproof than a Garmin Edge too.

Livetrack. Do email recipients phones need to be of a certain spec? A Blackberry, iPhone and Windows Phone I've tried it with show no map, just a blank screen when link accessed. My own Android phone shows the map OK.

Noticed that my Edge 810's tabs are shot, called Garmin and they are sending a replacement unit despite being somewhat outside of warranty, which seems pretty good service!
My Edge 800 has damaged tabs too, going to try one of the Raceware repair kits. -

Newbie question: So the Start/Stop button on my Garmin Edge 500 is knackered and I need something to replace it.
I've recorded well over 30,000 km with this so it's done it's job. I've used it loads with Strava/Connect?Bikeroutetoaster-made maps on it for 'breadcrumb' trail navigation which has been great actually ... and all the other usual uses (power on the turbo). I don't want or need anything flash (do I want a colour screen in front of me whilst I ride my bike?) but it needs to do everything the 500 did and (ideally) fit the mounts I have on all my bikes.
Should I replace it with the a new Garmin 520? Perhaps just a 25 or something else? What else is out there now?
I don't really feel much incentive to stay with Garmin. Connect is bullshit and all bugs are permanent despite relentless patching from Garmin.
Any thoughts appreciated.

I came from 500 and switched to Wahoo Bolt. Still having the 500 for backup turn-by-turn nav one day.
-
• #4473
Does the Wahoo fit the same old Garmin mounts and work with Ant+ things?
The Bolt looks good, cheers.

I had a 520, it was a bit flakey.
Got a Wahoo Elemnt and got rid of the 520.

I recorded a turbo session on the Strava app alongside recording the same session on my Garmin so I could understand the difference in reading between my Powertap and Quarq powermeter. The Strava app showed the avg power (but no speed/distance) whilst recording, but when saved it shows no power.
Can someone take a look at the file?

Good choice!
