[Solved]
Hey there,
William here. Thanks for writing in.
It looks like you might be trying to save a new route from the route Edit screen versus the view screen: https://s3.amazonaws.com/rwgps/screenshots/eKVUoe2l.png
From your route library, make sure to select View route instead of edit: https://s3.amazonaws.com/rwgps/screenshots/3P1OEyH9.png
If you already in edit mode, you can select Save and View route. Thanks and let me know if you need anything else.
William

Doing 3 different expeditions across different parts of Europe, all has suceeds from rwgps.

Yesterday rode 160km using strava route on andriod mobile phone to navigate. Probably would have been ok if the quad lock mount had showed up in time.
As it was, I had it in the pocket of my bar bag and frequent need to check if I was still going in the right direction was a pita. Also, on several occasions I wasn't, so some minor detours ensued.
Conclusion: will be buying a Garmin 1000. Not sure if the full one justifies the £50 extra over the explore. I'm thinking of upgrading my 500 to a 520 and using that for club rides, sportives etc where knowing were I am going is someone else's problem, and using the 1000 for touring and exploring where I will be carrying a battery pack in any case so 5 hrs battery life is less of an issue.
Tl:dr - buy all the Garmins.

Just noticed that according to Garmin, battery life for 520/820/1000 are all 15 hours.
Anyone able to confirm if in real life, you get more life out of 520 compared to 1000?
Thanks

Buy my Garmin 810 for £100, includes bunch of mounts, cachet of having been on several internet famous bikes.
-
• #3632
This.
810 over the 1000, battery drain a little less too.
-
• #3633
I have purchased an Elemnt, looking at it the mount is 90 degrees from the standard Garmin one so I'll need to work something out there.
Quite seriously, if anyone wants my 810 give me a shout.

It's a good offer; thanks. Still considering various things; will pm if I manage to resist shiny shiny new.

I seem to remember someone saying 10%/hr battery life in normal use.
In my world, normal use gets me maybe 8-9hrs?
-
• #3636
No way.
The 810 is fucked. The 1000 is the best they've done so far.
-
• #3637
Thanks, that's good to know. 8 hours would cover most foreseeable circumstances between charging opportunities.
-
• #3638
My replacement Garmin 1000 is a few months old and currently won't charge past 94%.
-
• #3639
The Elemnt is something of a gamble, but I thought it was worth a go.
-
• #3640
I've gotten way more warranty return from the 1000 over the 800/810.

I would agree, considering their support are infinity time better than Garmin's famous Garmin, any problem will likely to be addressed.

How have you found it so far? Reviews on wiggle are very positive. The user interface sounds a lot better than clunky menus on Garmin.
-
• #3643
And in my sample of three, the 1000 is much better. Doesn't mean anything unless you can get Garmin figures for units sold vs. returns.

Only ordered it yesterday, I anticipate it arriving Monday or Tuesday, I shall report back

On a related note if you are in an area which you are not intimately familiar I strongly recommend View Ranger with the correct tiles, it's very impressive and useful- especially when you have no reception.

You can mount them on the other side of the stem or use an L-bend USB cable.
This (they do shorter ones too)

What mounts work on the other side of the stem?
I have just ghetto modified a k edge normal not xl mount.
I have filed off part of the nub, so I could move the mount further out.

On part k13 423 there is a little nub underneath, and I filed a little bit off so I could attach the actual mounting bracket further out.

I just used the stock one and stuck it on the 'wrong' side of the stem. Bit fugly but it works (like most of my stuff). I now have a couple of L bend USB so it's less of an issue.
I haven't had this issue so I'm quite happy with whatever I'm doing in RWGPS.
