I'll see you at the station, I didn't see how late it was and I'll take my own route there. See you at the station at 8pm.

Incontinence pants! Have a nice ride everybody.

I was hoping to see you my bearded brother.
See you Saturday night if not before.

• #3855
On my way. Might not make it, hope I do.

Just looked, it was the end of September.

met Big Tim on the ride out. Starts to an evening don't get much better than that. Great to see you back on the black top as furious as ever. Many thanks to Sean for consummate leadership and Friday for back stopping the whole thing. Smooth ride. Big up to Bruce, Luke and Matt for slotting in seamlessly to the TNRC. There are some stretches of rolling tarmac in among that to rival the very best.
Nice pint at the end too. -

Thanks to all, that was great! Looking forward to the next one!

I decided to ride. Left home at 7.35pm, missing train, and rode out. Got to junction where you'd join the Epping Rd at 8.10pm, and realized you might not have got there yet, but had to press on, as I wasn't sure how much battery I had left in my front light. Blasted round the 28 mile fucker in 1h20, and rode home again. 50 solo nocturnal miles on 30g of maltodextrin and 2 heaped teaspoons of fructose. Would not have conceived of doing such a thing a few years back. Is it progress? Who cares. Nice not to see you, to not see you…nice.

That was a lovely wee ride :) Bite-sized and guaranteed not to spoil your appetite. Will be looking forward to coming ones.
-
• #3862
take it easy on that maltodextrin. The last thing you want is a hypoglycemic rebound or an insulin spike.
-
• #3863
It delivers fast acting fuel at just the right rate (that was 10g/hour), coupled with the slower acting fructose. Keeps my mood / reaction times / 'energy levels' nice and constant. I'd have to be shovelling the stuff down to get the phenomena you mentioned. More chance of dodgy high GI shit eating 2 slices of toast with jam/honey.
-
• #3864
the world of toast can be so dark. That's why I only use it for profiling rides
-
• #3865
I ate two slices of toast with jam/honey before leaving for the train. Had I been aware of the risks I would almost certainly have gone for Marmite.
Cheers for another top evening spin. Well led.

As I was catching the group again after dropping a bottle it was lovely to see all 11 of you huddled in a tight glowing pack keeping a steady 15mph pace. Some excellent riding out there last night, mostly well discplined and completely event free. It was all over before I knew it.
Sorry to be anti social and not stop for a beer, I had vegetable curry waiting for me at home and was very hungry.

• #3867
it would have been nice to buy you a pint for your great work but veg curry trumps that. another big thanks Sean.

veg curry trumps

Bonus ride for me as I didn't expect to get out last night - loved it, over all too quickly. Great work getting us round on track Sean/Nick and good to see Tim back and restoring a bit of balance on the tnrc West Ham front. Even time for a pint at the end - cheers Bruce. Top night out as ever.

Great to be back out on tarmac on a Tuesday night with a top bunch of riders.
Cheers Sean for tip top leading.

Last night was a good way to ease back in to TNRC after a long absence. That route is great - with loads of fantastic, sweeping descents and quiet lanes; it was very enjoyable. It was also nice to re-meet the people I have met before and see some new faces.
Thanks to Sean for leading and keeping the group together. And Friday for his quiet but tidy work at the back.
Apologies for dropping my bottle.

@ rameye - where the hell are you? drowning your sorrows?
newbs - read post one please and be prepared.
@ Middle - yes I can get us to Theydon lol
Tim. Last night and tonight I have been mostly in the Walkers Bar of the Old Dungeon Gill Hotel. When not in here I am over the road in my tent or up in the hills. Hence no TNRC for me this week and no deluxe next week.
Today was 9 hrs of walking, Langdale. Scarfell Pike. Esk pike. Bowfell. Back to Langdale via the waterfalls. Very pretty and much nicer than Chingford at night.
-
• #3873
ah yes i'm sure you mentioned this at 5 a.m. on the deluxe. enjoy the pikes, enjoy the tent.
-
• #3874
can anyone on the ride tell me what speed you averaged? am keen to join but don't want to be spat out the back/slow people down for next time
-
• #3875
23mph average!!!
Do you turn on the front or don't come again!!!
There's no waiting for those dropped of the bunch!!!
@Tim - leave leyton then go to walthamstow and then follow A112 until turning right on the ridgeway. leaving home at about 7:15
