How about second-timers? (don't want to turn up and piss anyone off - more than I normally do)

That's fine. You already know what's appropriate equipment / ride etiquette / fitness.
The only difference on this one is to run your tyres at the lower end of your usual pressure window; and to make sure you don't run over any fishermen or their equipment, which hopefully means nothing more complicated than following the line of the rider in front of you.

The ride is in two days and the lists aren't full yet. Curioser and curioser.
In other news, I killed my tourer this morning. Riding back from a stag do, to Brockenhurst station. Changed down and the rear mech interfaced with my spokes. Dead mech, dead wheel, dead dropout. Hangover, no food, no water.
I spent about ten minutes juts not knowing what to do, tempted to just ditch it in the New Forest and walk. Sense prevailed and I phoned a friend. Anyone got experience with bending steel dropouts?

I have a dropout alignment tool. I'm not lending it out or anything, but you'd be welcome to come round at our mutual convenience and try coldsetting it back into place. Otherwise, use a shop, or get a fuck-off adjustable wrench and throw caution to the wind…

I'll stick at the back.(I'm knackered) -
• #2343

-
• #2344

Due date is 29th.....
I'm hoping that tomorrow will be my last ride for a bit and then back out in . -
• #2346
(sorry for volunteering you Sam)

I'm a bit out of shape at the mo, so keeping things tight on the flat will be a doddle (as long as no one passes me). On the hills I'll let people know where the regroup point will be so they can either blast away at will, or (like me) toddle up at their own pace.
The only section where it might get a bit strung out is the 3 mile section before Bayleys Hill. If no one blasts off the front everything will be gravy.

I'm hoping that tomorrow will be my last ride for a bit and then back out in .29th? Doesn't that mean it can happen pretty much any time now? Have you got a support car to shadow you and whisk you off the mountain if the call comes through?

Out. Duh. Ian Sevonius' band are playing tomorrow night. They're amazing. Can someone remove me, on the smart-blower right now. Thanks.
