We rode this route (as far as Royston) and back last night. I bet it is gorgeous during the day but we chose a totally moonless night. It was very dark.
It was also crap leaving London that way during rush hour. Felt like 20mi of stop start until we hit the sticks.
Can't wait to give it a go during the day.

The leaving London part is pretty rubbish anytime to be honest. I'd be starting from Enfield this time though so I'm not sure what route I'd take
-

Dan, the route we did was definitely completely different from the one we did for the fixed ride, as that went via epping.

I think what you did was basically the route of the old A10. Although far from pretty it's probably a better way out of London in the rush hour than chancing it on the Epping New Road speedway.

30th is not free for me.
installing my new kitchen.
is november too late...as in too cold?
-
• #859
it wasn't the puncture that was the problem it was that pesky chain getting in the way putting the wheel back on.
Hey it was early alright!
The light wasnt very good
I forgot to have my coffee that morning
I left my glasses at home
I wasnt used to that kind of chain...

Might just try a weekday run sometime soon, last minute style. My work is totally unpredictable at the mo, just making hay while the sun shines ...

Some people would avoid a November ride but I think lots would be up for it too.
-
• #862
People still ride their bikes in November, no? I'd certainly be up for it
-
• #863
I would also be up for it. Its such a lovely route

makes use of the last hill before cambridge and has a nice 2 mile straight to spin down. plus you get to ride past a windmill.

Hey all !
Im a student at long road college in cambridge. I love riding my fixing and have some short films of it, but I want to make a better short film all about the cult of fixie's in cambridge, this would help build my portfolio for uni and will be a great experince. I am not defintly doing this film, this post is just to see how many people I can get to be in the film. So if you live in the cambridgeshire area and have a fixie could you please help me get a rough idea of how many people I can get, If there is anouth I will let you know If i can make the film.
cheers, Jacob ! -
