  • Fixed only. I do this so we can better keep people together. And cos this the premier fixieskidder forum. Why the hell more rides aren't fixed-only I'll never know. [/Pajamas]

Actually quite chuffed about this - really like longer rides on my fixed but am put off joining the longer forum rides as I can't keep up with people riding geared :)

Done this before, nice ride, straightforward route, good pubs on the way. No girl though, but got a solid month though.

  • Local knowledge, hoefla's from Cambridge...

    Thanks Skive you rock.

  • Oooh pubs. I like pubs.

    ^ innit.

  • Aaargh, this is painful to watch. Really want to ride to Cambridge. Special dispensation for a non-fixed-bike? I’m left-handed, can’t ride fixed (or something)...?

This is where good ride leadership comes in. All riders should keep to the pace of the rest of the ride.

  • an early start means we can keep the pace right down if needs be.
all for one and all that jazz.

  • @ markesmith Ride a fixed bike for the day?

Someone will have a wheel you could borrow.

  • Yes, will give it a bash for a while now

  • Yeah! Fixieconverts....

I get that and think it's pretty doable on the flat, but let's say I'm running 65" for an undulating route and happily pottering along at 15mph: I'm going to either hold up geared riders or get dropped rapido. Descents for example - geared bikes will vanish will I'm spinning down. I guess I just feel more comfortable if everybody is doing the same thing - I tend to push harder with geared riders so as not to naff them off!

  • ain't gonna be no gears.

  • well, one each.

  • could be up for this

  • Can't afford the sex-change. Forum bake-sale?

  • Can't remember if I'm racing in the Great Missenden area or Ugley/Thaxted that morning. I think it depends on team mates. If it's the latter, I'll probably be finished by 10ish, so might ride past you on my way home.

IT'S OKAY!!! I'll be on fixed, FFS.

  • Whatever. I don't mind if you're out on your Fruitboots, as long as you're going in the other direction.

  • I think I'm in (after having seen it on the women's forum). Won't add myself to the list yet though as I think I'm meant to be doing something on Saturday night, though I've forgotten what it is.

  • I'll potter along if I don't make the Bristol 100 the day before, which does happen to be the day after my birthday gulps...keep ya posted.
