I'd totally be up for this and would boost your female numbers, but your 'fixed only' rule is a bit shit. I ride fixed everyday in the city, but me knee gives out after about 30km continuous riding, so I'd only come if I was riding my geared bike. So looks like I'm 'not allowed' on your ride.

I'll whisper this so not too many hear it. The fixed only is to keep the ride together at a reasonable pace for everyone, level playing field and all that, if someone happened to turn up on a geared bike, and so long as they don't get all speed daemon, nobody will kick up a fuss. Of course it would be nice if all those who can turn up fixed did turn up fixed, and turning up with gears just cos you're lazy won't cut it, but for genuine reasons there may be flexibility. By the way, you didn't hear this from me, right? Tell anyone I said this and I'll just deny all knowledge.

I should add - the request people ride without gears isn't a bit shit, that's unfair: there are TONS of rides on this forum, and no one has ever asked that, yet the forum is dedicated to that very detail - riding without gears.

But you (or anyone) would be welcome to ride on whatever contraption you see fit, if you so desire / have medical necessity thereof. I started a thread. You lot make the ride. It's not like anyone can ever control this lot. Which is a good thing.

Why not choose your two favourite gears and just use them?
