Meh, they are at £70 now, my cloaking device seems not to be working.

If you spot any in 170mm give me a shout.

After 30 miles it seems my BB is fucked, despite having it checked over by Brixton during the initial set up. Loud cracking noises when turning the crank, even unloaded.
Do I head back to Brixton or Halfords?
-
• #630
Depends which halfords. Go there first, take a look, see what their reaction is and if you get a bad feeling head to Brixton. Then invoice halfords for the work.

It's Brixton Halfords. They are open later than BC, so I'm tempted to head to BC first and see what they have to say about it. There's evidence that they did take off the crank, but the bearings failing so quickly makes me wonder if they really did inspect them, or just have a quick poke around.

This is being made, from 501 rather than the 853 of the Howies bike.
Nice looking I think.

Brixton fixed it there and then with no charge. The bearings were installed a bit loose, so they've put them in properly and bunged in a washer necessary for frames manufactured to less than ideal tolerances. Great service, especially as it was after half five when I went in and they were about to settle down for their post-closing beer
Thanks BC!

^^ Genesis' fugio also looked pretty sweet. But not sub £1000.

Right, my Gossamer BB30 BB is completely stuffed now too - did you see what they did? Wonder if it's something I can fix myself.

Didn't see a thing, so I can't suggest anything other than taking it into somewhere you trust.
I had a look at replacing myself so that I'd have a clue if I needed to do it again in the future, but there were tools needed that I didn't have, so I skipped it, rather than bodge it.
Walkthrough here if you are feeling brave:

Planning to use the bike on the Surry Rumble on Sunday so guess it's a trip to Bicycle Workshop. Might invoice FSA ;)

520, I don't think Reynolds have been making 501 for quite a while.
I really want the Croix De Fer to be available in 853, rather than being limited to the Day One model.

Mudguards, rack mounts and a relatively short top tube. Sounds like one for you.
It's a lovely smooth ride, but darned heavy.

Oh boy, you have not ridden my Crosscheck...

Genesis Fugio.
I like this. is it 653? had a 653 dawes audax i loved, got nicked. I have a genesis vapour, allymillium, which i stuck a long haul trucker fork on, it's a great little tourer but great offroad too. but the ally frame it losing it's bottle cage rivets and rack mount thread, so next project is steel replacement.

I almost bought a CC when my CdF got stolen, but the deal on the Boardman was just too good. I still fancy one, and may still get one for SS duties if finances allow.
On your crosser? Noice.
