Why do we need through axle?

Helps avoid slight misalignments that make disc brakes noisy. I keep pulling my rear wheel slightly out of true on a hill near home- low cadence high torque overwhelms the clamping force of the Hope QR.

Your fault for not using an enclosed cam QR.

A week old kitten could overwhelm the clamping force of a Hope QR.

I'm collecting some new ones next week.

Front, yes.
Rear, not so important.

Are these Scott Addict CX frames pretty decent? I like the cantis and threaded BB for easy maintenance. Was looking at Ridley X-bow complete bikes too which are on sale at the mo. That's alu and this is carbon.

Nice ^^^

How can I tell if that's a genuine Rock Lobster? It's designed as a CX bike, right? Just someone has fitted risers instead of drops?

Ask for a serial number?

This means I can 6800 all my bikes with a possibility of left side only PM!

Getting a CX bike soon... I've had a list as long as my arm but now it's down to a Pearson or a Ridley... mate says hands down the Ridley but the Pearson looks so bloody good as well, Pearson has SRAM and Ridley Shimano

Geometry looks near identical, so it should come down to looks and spec.

I think the Pearson's graphics are way better, Ridley's are a bit OTT, but I like the green on black combo

oh my...

There's one hanging in the office now. Looks decent.

SS CX made from alu, apart from the Mash CXSS are there any other options?

Ok, need a bit of advice, kinda narrowed my CX bike down to a Ridley, would love hydraulic brakes but don't really want to spend £1600, A Viner now looks quite good as they have everything I want, but I haven't really heard that much about them... plus how good is a £1400 carbon bike going to be? They look damn good though!

Bolt-thru forks, ideally with room for a 30mm tyre on a 24mm rim - what is there?
-
• #3597
At that price it's going to be a badged up open mould frame. You can probably find the same bike for less elsewhere by not paying the Viner 'tax'. Have you seen the frame in person? I'd check for mud clearance, UK conditions require as much clearance around the rear wheel as possible, otherwise the frame will get scratched to hell.
Viner are a long established company, but they used to mainly work as a fabricator for other brands.

cheers, but any SSCX aluminium bikes out there with a carbon fork?
That isnt the most attractive feature .. flat mount, thru axle etc.
There are these two:
