I've had a disc compatible frame since 2009.

show off ;o)
The other thing I am trying to do is to get a good spec from the off, and 'try' not to upgrade later on!

Cable discs are a bit of a faff it's true - lots of adjustment required (strangely much less on the second set of pads - harder compound maybe?) - but I've found them to work well (Apex levers/ Tektro Lyras) - and they definitely saved my bacon on the big drop offs at the Ally Pally Supercross.
That said they arent a patch on hydraulic discs. I definitely want to try these (Spyres) when they're out though:

Do BB7 play nice with Sram S500 levers?
-
• #2306
Not really, they required a lots of fiddling and diddling.
Ditched mine in the end for some Cane Creek.
-
• #2308
Yeah those, not sure why it's better, slightly longer pull perhaps?
-
• #2309
Anyone have an experience or knowledge about Sensa bikes?
-
• #2310
what is the advantage? I have similar looking ones from condor atm the only reason I don't like them is campag/ergo style hood shape..
-
• #2311
If you have those, no harm in giving it a try.

^ why not get a disc compatible bike and wait for hydraulics to come out and then upgrade to hydraulics?
It's what I am doingBecause you will be waiting a while and it's likely that the first gen stuff will be underwhelming and expensive.
Sorry.
Cable pulls can be made to work. But what really kills you is that you is that bargain pair of Mavic Cosmic SLs on bike radar won't ever work with your bike.

The Stevens is lovely. Not sure about alloy forks though. Still its an easy enough upgrade.

See I am swaying more towards the Sensa, preferring the colour scheme. Maybe theres my answer!

If a bike is pleasing aesthetically then you'll ride it more.
This is a scientific fact.

Yes that is true, didn't do to bad in a group test either - http://www.sensabikes.com/Test%20Outdoor%20Fitness%20Cute.pdf

^ no discs?
-
• #2319
Yup, its a headline shocker, just not liking any of the disc equipped bikes out there, which I think has been the problem before I start spending way too much!

I've just bought a new front wheel for my Boardman cross bike, but I'm debating selling the frame/fork/seatpost/wheels which are, variously:
- Boardman Team CX, 58cm
- Full carbon fork, tapered steerer
- 3T Palladio Team seatpost (loads in frame)
- Hope Hoops wheelset, Mavic TN719 on Hope Pro II Evo, DB spokes
- Thomson X4 zero degree/120mm stem
- Good BB30 bearings in the frame
What should I ask for that lot, priced sensibly?
- Boardman Team CX, 58cm

Wheelset: £225 (depending on condition/usage etc.)
The rest (as frameset and extras): £500I'd be interested in wheelset if you are quick and serious about the sell .. pics?
-
• #2322
Well, the front has literally come out of the Hope delivery box on Monday, the rear- give me a second. I paid £320 for the wheels I think.
-
• #2323
£500 is a lots for a frameset IMHO despite the 3T seat post and Thomson stem.
-
• #2324
colour of hubs/spokes/rims?
-
• #2325
Black/black/black
I would say that there would be a 60/40 split road to dirt, but would like to try racing!
AndyP - this is why I would want a disc compatible frame now so I could upgrade later on, anything has to be better than dual pivot brakes!!
