Such a shame Specialized stopped making the Tricross, otherwise it'd make a fantastic bike by now.
4130 thought but carbon fork;

Alloy cross frame with a disc mount?
Planet X uncle john?
Out of interest have you ever thought about going custom?
-
• #1705
I've found that cane creek v-levers and bb7 mtb work quite good together. actually that is the set up that made me want to build a drop bar specific fast disc brake bike.

I know it's not singlespeed but look at how awesome this look;

I think he was going for 1 * 10 speed anyway. It's a contender.

ah, the crosslight pro-6, is indeed excellent, saw one being built a while back in epic cycles

£529 frame/fork/headset, I have looked at it this morning.
Bit spendy for me at the moment- just been told that in our upcoming office move our current bike storage (secured garage) is changing to "covered area in car park", which will require beater procurement, annoyingly.

It would be on my shortlist if it was BB30.

Good plan.

Do you have any idea how expensive I could/would end up making an Airnimal?
-

"Hello, Hiscox? Yes, its' a folding bike, value? Erm, now you might be surprised by this"

Di2 Airnimal with custom HEDs it is then.
In a lame attempt to bring this thread back on topic - you know, palatable complete CX bikes for less than a grand - a quick search on Evans brings back some quality budget contenders.
Cannondale have a 9 speed Sora based CAADX for £800, Norco a similarly equipped ride but with Tektro Lyra discs for £700 and Jamis a similar eight speed disc rig with a tapered head tube for less than £600.
£580!

Hang on, so what are you actually after?
- cx bike
- with disc mounts
- to use for ?????
- Profit!!!
If you're going to be commuting and locking it up outside, why not just get pompetamine and a carbon kenisis fork?
- cx bike

The new Haye CX-5 disc brake have got some praised from the head mechanic at work, braking power felt better than BB7 (with Tiagra/105 levers).

Sora thought, unless they have the newer one.
-
• #1721
Yeah it's 8 speed Sora, but at that price...looks like a nice CX platform.
