I was looking at Bjorns selection of titanium cross bikes with a very large amount of envy earlier.
I'd love to take a magic wand and clone my SystemSix, but with canti's, and clearance for 35c tyres+mud.
Cheers!
You should get one of your own. Take me up on the offer n ill include the si sl cranks for 250 complete with bearings. As singlespeed id imagine ud be sub 7 fairly easy with nice wheels :-) -

why cantis - just port your parts onto a lynskey frame

I am very tempted by the idea of a single speed, light as possible cross bike.
The antithesis of my Boardman - as simple as I can get it.
Magic gear a Dirty Disco.

That's rad.
Maybe I should take a yellow pen to my forks.

gets my vote. While my Major One is maybe not technically as light as possible it is under 8kg and has nothing expensive on it to get to that weight.
The lower weight helps psychologically more than anything although it is nicer to shoulder when I am climbing over stiles. May not apply if you don't encounter stiles.

Bear with me here- my Langster is 7.8kg, and nothing on there is an expensive part.
Yes, the rims are carbon- but 60mm front and 88mm rear means that they are way heaver than (say) Open Pro's,
Also, the hubs are track hubs, and therefore a lot heavier than road hubs would be.
So- alloy frame, simple parts, the only "heavy" bits would be the tyres comparitively speaking.
Simple! Light! Cheap! Well, maybe 2 out of 3.

depend on whether you go for cantis or disc.

Me and Spotter are getting cross frames made by the dude in poland.
The plan is to copy the geo of a GT pulse but with cantis/disc mounts and clearance for big nobbly tyres. You'd be welcome to get in on the order, if you had something in mind.

sounds great

C'est combien?
-
• #1639
£120-150 for the frame.

I'm afraid that you are significantly taller than me Eingang- I am a paltry and quite frankly embarrassingly short 187cm.
My Boardman is the LG: http://www.boardmanbikes.com/cx/cx_team.html

I'd be after something with a top tube around 575mm, price sounds good, does that include delivery?

Yup

I'm also about to start a fgssdcx project. I considered the mielec, but I prefer a steel frame so the pompetamine seems hard to beat. I'm still afraid that it will build up a bit heavy though. My spreadsheet suggests about 9kg with relatively expensive parts.

A putative build spreadsheet might be an idea

2.2kg for the frame, 1.025kg for hte fork- ouch.

I'll get a carbon fork for it.

• #1648
and a carbon frame
-
• #1649
yeah, when I find a cheap one suitable for fg/ss.

Is it total guesswork on the projected weight of a Mielec frame?
Can any one recommend the best Shimano shoe for cross?
wanna stick with Shimano as heir 43 is a perfect fitfor me, want grippy sole, top buckle and some flex....and no too expensive.
Back on topic, Scott just sent me a 2013 Team CX at the hugely discounted price of 650 quid...under a grand....does this count in this thread? Great bike.
