Now I wish I learnt something from my grandfather. He was a tailor who dealt with tweed and heavy wool (coats, jackets and suits).

Before I met him I was really impressed by the way CoppiThat was dressed at the tweed run. Then I realised he kind of dressed like that all the time, the dapper lad.
I've said it many time before: Gerrald is cut from a different cloth.
People, it's just a bike ride. It'll happen next year, maybe even in Autumn. There are plenty other rides on the forum too. Come to Cambridge, organise your own rides with your friends, cross the channel into Europe. Is the tweed run really worth getting that stressed about? There was no preferential treatment, fastest finger first. STOP YOUR BLOODCLUT CRYING!
Errrr you should concern yourself with getting the Cottage Chicken mass booking organized.
@JackT: Interesting stuff

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! for one that hates and tags the 'fashion' threads you're fashionably late or should that be comically late?

Thanks JackT, a pretty sharp take on the whole thing.
FWIW I've chatted with Ted and we agree on a lot of things, including not ripping off the brand they have built, the effort large bike rides take to organise when dealing with the likes of London's overlords/constabulary, indeed the sheer herding of cyclists in the right direction generally, following an entry process that may or may not gain popular blessing for whatever reason.
....And particularly that anyone is free to organise whatever they like, with obvious nod to existing events and a sense of playing fair.
It's all good.

Also, would be fairly sweet if whoever is leading from the front this year(alien did a fine job last time iirc) was dressed in full Hunt master regalia. Although it might associate us with fox hunters. Who aren't cool....
Insert caption.I'd go with this look, or a cougar ;)
Tweed pencil skirt has been consigned to the back of the wardrobe on the grounds of unladylike exposure on the TR 2010. -

Will there be a dress code for volunteers?
Yes, you need to wear a bright fluro vest with reflective strip, helmet is a necessary and don't forget glove to protect your hand from road rash, you'll need a trouser strap if you intend to wear trouser (the strap also need to be reflective). don't forget front and rear light, reflector and mirror on the bicycle.
Oh and most importantly, you'll need to have clean underwear too.

Damn, registration closed. Whats the deal with this, can i still come along and take part just without an official number? i've got a tweed jacket, it even has elbow patches...
-
• #421
Afraid not, by doing so you would risk the lovely organisers picking up a £5k fine.

Teddy or Jacqui
What is the etiquette for people who couldn't register to come to the 'do' at the end of the ride?
Can't remember from last year but I couldn't register my partner and she'd like to meet up with me after the ride.
Btw - I don't know anyone going this year so do any of you guys who managed to sign up fancy meeting up as a group of loners?
