Alright denim chaps, I've bought some alright jeans, and I'm going to try and look after them.
With the whole not washing them thing, what do you do when they've reached the natural end of a wearing cycle? They've bagged out a little bit, been wearing them for 2 weeks. Shall I whack them in the freezer or what? Hanger them? Just keep wearing them? I'm a little perplexed.
2 weeks? Try 2 months.
Try 2 years

I have no idea what hermetically sealed hospital-white world you people live in but mine are already covered in beer and oil. I guess I'll just wear them... more?
This whole thing is totally bizarre.

Yep. Just get on with it. Piss yourself in the process too, helps fading. :)

Yeah 2 months is still too little. I go for six months at the very minimum and then maybe wash them if they are so unbearably smelly that I get weird looks.

You're doing it wrong.

Nice work on the 634s OJAW. The 21oz IH denim is really something else. Giles is usually spot-on when it comes to fitting advice so I wouldn't worry about it.
I've recently added some IH-704s and a pair of IHxB01od to my collection so you won't get any grief from me :)

I re-read my last post.
To clarify, I bought the N & F too small, based on the store's advice.
The IH I bought basically true to size (maybe down 1 inch) and they fit very comfortably.
Sorry about that.
Another thing - stack or fold?
So far, stacking seems to be working best for me. -

Whichever works for you IMHO. I cuff my 634s but stack my BBs.

Looking at picking up some selvedge, but it's hard to find here at an affordable price. I'm left with Nudie, APC & a small selection of Edwin in my price range.
Fancy something different from Nudie as I already have a couple of pairs of their jeans, so just wondering if there's much to choose from between APC and Edwin?
So far leaning towards some Edwin Sen, as I was pretty keen on their details etc. I could easily be swayed if APC will last better.
TIA for any advice :)

I'm not into APC myself but plenty are. I also think it's worth saving/splashing out on denim to get the exact ones you want. Going to a dedicated denim shop is always a good idea and just spend some time chatting to the staff and trying lots of pairs on - the fit is the most important thing and as selvedge is straight leg I think it's worth getting right.
I had a pair of Ed 39s, and they are alright.
My 2p.

Cheers dude, 'preciate the feedback.
Luckily the shop local to me that sells APC and Edwin stock a decent amount of their ranges, so will be able to try on heaps of stuff. The guy in there seemed knowledgeable about how the various fits compared to each other, too.
There's a Nudie store here too, but their stock isn't that great as they're the first port of call being located in a popular suburb.

I've never been a big fan of Nudie but for no real reason. I don't like the embroidered pattern on the pocket but it's not just that.
But just go for the APC and Edwin place. I'd say go heavy and stiff as you can, but that's a personal thing really.

I've never been a Nudie person either, but got a pair for free from here and I love them.
Had them properly patched, better than new. The fit is perfect and the embroidered at the back is black, and so is the denim. barely visible. The fading is starting to show. Ace. -

Aye I do like the Nudies I have, but fancy trying something else.
Edwin/APC place is defs top of the list. Will report back after pay day.

Any japanese denim fan here ? PBJ flathead , etc
Not that they are proper or selvedge but I ripped my Levi commuter jeans on the thigh, any recommendations on where to get them sewn up? Or should I just go to the dry cleaners next door?
