An alternative to wearing a cam maybe (although battery needs a bit of a work)

I saw someone holding a full sized handycam on their bike yesterday...
-

What's full size handycam these days though? They used to be the size of a couple of toasters and now they're smaller than a palm.

Any lipstick cameras available that aren't shit, aren't expensive and will record for ages (or loop after a couple of hours)? Preferably something that doesn't need charging every ride.

Interesting to read about the SJ4000 model. Been on my watch list for a while now.
Ideally, I'd like it helmet mounted for mtb use, but would stick up a bit high I think, so been holding back for that reason.
M10? May have to have a look on eBay again! lolbt

Well my M10 shit the bed the other day.
I plugged it in to charge and nothing happened so pulled the lead out and the socket (which should be soldered to the circuit board I side I presume) came out with it.
After that it was intermittently refusing to switch on, switching itself off etc.
Contacted Banggood about it and after I sent them a video of the problems they have said they'll send me out a replacement so I'm pretty impressed.
Re helmet mounting, check out some youtube vids that have been shot from different mounts. I think helmet mount gives the most boring and unengaging viewpoint. Chest mount looks best I think but my experience with a chest mount has not been so great, difficult to get the angle right and either end up with the camera pointing at the floor when I get out the saddle or at the sky when I sit down.

SJCAM m10 and 4000 are the same internals in a different box. Techmoan on YouTube did side by side tests and stuff.

about a bottle of 500ml water. I was just amazed that he was determined to record his ride. But by riding with only 1 hand, he was wobbling quite a bit...
-

The reason I thought helmet mount (that sounds so wrong!)may be best, is so it doesn't jolt about as im riding off-road. Not heard about chest mount before, but as mentioned, hard to get pointing in the right direction

Yeah head/helmet mounting will defo make for smoother footage but saying that, I tried handlebar mounting on my rigid mtb recently and didn't think the vibration was too bad.

That's good to know, I may go down that route then, cheers ;)

So after being shoved off the road yesterday by some prick overtaking me who thought he'd rather hit me than the car coming the other way, it's about time I get one.
Couldn't get plate.
There is a tenner difference in the 4000 and m10 but I guess it would make sense to get the newer one.
Birthday is at the end of June (knowing my luck I'll be mowed down before it arrives) so I'd prefer a quick delivery or even for it to come around that time, got to unwrap something.
Banggood are out of stock Backed by Amazon sellers are still selling fakes so does anybody have any recommended sellers?

Can I fuck find a list of compatible cards, techmoan says not to buy them from ebay and after reading feedback on a lot of the kingston/sandisk ones they have lots of problems.
What card do you use?
I (will) have the m10
-
• #391
I use these ones. Samsung evo 32gb orange ones.

Bingo, cheers mate.

Word up camfans, been messing with my bar mounts (GoPro Hero)

@Clockwise or any other sjcam owners
My M10 is original (latest FW) however it seems to have started freezing within 5-10 minutes of recording which means a battery pull, luckily it just happened this morning after some prick tried to run me off the road but otherwise it would have been useless had it locked up before hand and I didn't notice it.
I'm assuming this is due the handlebar mounting and vibration but I wanted to check if you've ever had a similar problem?
Buy cheap buy twice

My camera is handlebar mounted and fine. Bad sd card?
-
• #396
I bought the one you linked to :) and it worked fine for two weeks.
It hasn't started overwriting yet so it is plausible, assuming my ignorance about how flash is written, that it has dodgy sectors.
-
• #397
Where'd you buy from? My M10 shit the bed and Banggood were bang on about taking it back and swapping for a new one.
Edit: No they weren't, coz they didn't ask for the old one back!

eBay unfortunately. UK Seller who already part refunded me the cost of external battery charger due to USB port snapping off shortly after using it (apparently you should open it up an coat it in hot glue as it's common)
I couldn't find one as cheap as I bought it and they wanted me to pay for returning it so I'd be out of pocket.
I've formatted it again and will see if the problem returns if so it's going on my helmet (oo er) if it doesn't return after that, then on the lid it stays as much as I hate it being there.
-
• #399
Are you formatting using the pc or the camera?
-
• #400
PC using exFAT as per some forum posts
Wiggle selling Fly6 for near trade price, snatch one up.
So far, it's actually a cracking little camera, now I feel a bit more comfortable that I'm able to gather evidence when necessary.
edit - turn out I got it cheaper due to excessive purchasing from Wiggle.
