I love my Pompino. It's my second after i had an original baby blue one and i ruined the seatpost. It was too small anyway.
mavic cxp33 rims 105 hubs. I like my sturmey archer chainset. Cheap too.
I have some mini v's that i can't be bothered to fit. I've had some big tyres on and these 23mm do just fine.
I know the rack looks ugly but it does come in handy when i get the shopping.

painted drop outs or shitty cheap bolts don't do very well when riding fixed gear, in my experience anyway.
cleaning the 'gripping points' and maybe sand them down a tad seems to help, but only for a while.
never used chain tugs but i'm sure they would solve the problem

No, they are a very good thing.
I like the FireEye ones from CRC. I haven't tried them on an On-One frame, but I can't see why they wouldn't work. The On-One tugs are cheaper and are bound to work on a Pompino, you just need to make sure you snug up the 8mm lock nuts otherwise the screws vibrate loose and leave a gap for your wheel to pull forward.

Whats the need for 130mm anyway?
Would like to run a road wheelset with a SS kit for cyclocross races. Means I can swap out cogs more easily depending on course conditions (White Industries freewheels aren't cheap either). Also I've got a Middleburn crankset, which requires a 52mm chainline, not possible with 120mm spacing.

friend of mine who rides dirt jumps has a rear wheel with 2 cogs on a single speed kit, just swaps around between a 36:16t and 18t by adjusting the chain tensioner, maybe that's possible? (just an idea)
or have a flip flop hub with a freewheel either side?

Your friend will be doing that on a 130 spaced hub.

I've heard of a fair few Pompinos getting broken playing polo but don't know if It was in the same place. Anyone know if the Pompetamine is prone to the same problems?

I just ride mine, and not particularly hard... I'm slightly concerned about "max rider weight" but I'm avoiding that one for now...

Interesting you should ask. As I mentioned, I've just built mine which happens to be XL and I'm "only" 6'3". Admittedly I've not dialled in my position yet but the bike feels so compact compared to my old Raleigh. I put it next to my GF's 56cm road bike and the top of the top tube and top of the seatpost are in pretty much the exact same place on both frames.
It feels too small for me at the minute but I'll report more once I've corrected the ride position.

The seat tube is 57cm c-t on the XL, which is pretty large for a compact-geometry frame! Effective top tube is quite short at 57.6cm, the same as my 58cm traditional geometry road bike, but if you need longer, then get a long stem and big reach bars?

I know polo doesn't count as normal use, but I thought the frame problems were generally happening around the crimping on the chainstays.

lol that's enormous. So on a pompino you'd need 25cm of seatpost sticking out - that doesn't seem too ridiculous given that it's compact geo and you are hugely tall.

The Pompino has a pretty long top tube and a short headtube. I'm building mine up as cyclocross bike and even though I'm only 6'2" I have a pretty ridiculous spacer stack to bring the bars up to where I want them.

So I just gave mine its maiden ride into my work. By rights the saddle should be higher, as should the stem, which would necessitate a longer steerer, i.e. new fork. Just the standard Pompino one or possibly the Kaffenback fork cos I like the black look. However the sizing didn't feel like a real issue as I was riding it. Maybe I'll wait tunil I fuck up my kneesd/ankles/arse/wrists/neck/back before sorting it.
Kind of half way there. It was an educational weekend. I've learnt Sheldon's full chain clean method, learnt how to set up cantis (still a bit of squeal), learnt how not to fit a headset and decided to take it to the LBS.
I still need to wrap the bars and before anyone points it out I know the cable housing around the seatpost is too long. I've also got mismatched levers on (one silver Tektro one black) because I accidentally bought both and still can't decide which looks better.
Oh it also needs guards (black Chromoplastics) and I have a Tortec rack to apply.

Future project...
Originally planned on building it with mudguards, front rack and all that jazz, but as usual i changed my mind, i now plan to build it with a flip-flop hub, risers, knobby cycle-cross tyres and risers, basically a fast and silly mtb
just need to finish off a few other things before i can get started
Is the serrateing on your track nut and lock nut worn down or good and prominent?
