Would S or M size pompino fit me better? I'm 168cm tall (about 5.5 feet)
The M-size got a little bit bigger headttube and seat tube and it's a good thing, but I'm just little bit worried about the top tube lenght 541mm and that's sounds a bit too much for me. I usually have ridden frames with 520-530mm top tubes and the S-size got 525mm. -

If you want to use it with flat bars you can go with either one.

I am very tempted to put the frame up for sale before it's even arrived. Worried it's gonna feel stupidly heavy compared to the alu bike I ride at the moment.

Unless you're doing timed hill climbs, MTFU. Will be difficult to notice the weight of the frame whilst actually riding it.

Not true. Having to ride my Mercian KOM at the moment as my alu beater is fucked thanks to large BMW's bumper. Tourer feels very sluggish compared to the beater.

My new steel frame is ~4 pounds (the builder is Canadian) which is ~1.8kg, feels very light when you pick it up and according to my spreadsheet* the bike with mudguards, disc brakes and electronic shifting is going to be around 8.7kg.
That's with a carbon fork, but altogether goes to show that you can build a fairly light steel framed bike- mine's using no weight weenie parts.

Dammit, your custom build is 953 no?
I cleaned up my old pomp and found out that it's not the chain stay that is bent, it's the top of the seat stay where it meets the seat tube. Wavy flakes of paint with rust coming through it.
I know it matters fuck all to On One but will drop them an email. Frame will most likely hang on a wall instead of being my commuter.

Thinking about getting a Pomp for Bike polo, would i need to get SPDs to stop toe overlap, im 5 ft 8 so was thinking of getting the small, thoughts?
-
• #2415
Get a S. You would fit a M but for polo peeps usually get a size smaller. SPD would be good to avoid toe overlap but you could also try a longer BB to increase the Q factor. I think Dtroll runs 175 cranks and 120+ BB on a small pomp with spd and has no toe overlap.

^^ I do!! 28mm tyres and cleats set as far forward as my shoes allow. Massive Q factor with 128mm octalink bb and 175 deore hollowtech cranks. Slightly more chance of pedal strike when pedalling on turns but it aint happened yet. Toe overlap is so slight I don't notice it.

I managed to get my large pompetamine in at about 8.55 kg and it feels plenty light.
if you can get the overall weight down the sturdy, rear end makes for a quick climber and is good for acceleration.
IMO. -

for comparison a similar sized pomp frame would weigh 700+ g more...

But would have fewer gears, less brakes/stuff?

just clarified the above. I meant frame only.

The toe overlap is kind of massive with the S frame. Go bigger!
-

Yup, they are teeny tiny and have loads of toe overlap.

Nope. Depending on your cranks, BB setup, tyre and shoe size. Pretty sure Dtroll would have no overlap if he runs 25/23c tyres.
Toe overlap is never really a problem in polo as you are running a freewheel. Yes, I had to get used to it at first but after 2 weeks I instantly adjust my foot position when I turn to avoid it. As I said before, players usually go a size smaller for polo but there are instances of players going 2 size down.

Selling the new frame here. I have decided that I don't want to join the club.
No problem. Its happened on bikes that havent been messed with, on loads of polo pomps but they get much more abuse than normal (hopping, endo spins, heavy accelerating, crashes etc). I'm quite light and use the geared pomp for commuting and light cx style riding with no problems. It's well do able, but you're more likely to snap your stays if its been coldset. As I said before, coldset your frame at your own risk. Mines been ok!
