  • Another over-specced pomp:

It's probably a little small for me but I'm inbetween sizes (I've owned an XL before and it felt too big) so figured sizing down was best.

  • I really want a Kaff. I emailed planet x to see when they'd be back in stock and they said early July. He also referred to it as the kaffenback 2. Is the one currently out the kaffenback 2 or does this mean it'll be a new model? Hopefully it will have a better paint job anyway.

First kaff had normal vertical dropouts. The 'new' model has changeable ones.

    aka 'Swapouts'.

  • I lurked this thread heavily before building up my Pompino. Finished it up then decided I'd register and post it in here.

Liking the SRAM Red Crankset. That alone is the price of the frame x3 ;)

Btw, how heavy is the bike now?

  • When they bring back in new stock do they put it at the full price i.e. the price they always have crossed out?

  • inspired by the pimped pomps recently, here's mine:
treated to some spd's and a titanium railed version of the same saddle.

  • that is lovely

  • What tyres dron?

    So nice

  • thanks both.
challenge parigi-roubaix - hence the emergency pump :)

  • Beast gearing. What's that up front, a 52?

  • Did you do the paintjob yourself?

  • White fork really suits it, good mix of black and silver bits too.

    road/cobblecross gearing: 50x18

it's just stickers over the logos. painted the forks myself though.

    thank you.

For about a week. I don't think anybody has ever paid the sticker price for a Pomp

  • Any ideas if a rear mini v brake would work with a 650b/c wheel on the pomp?

  • Dont think it will. Get a Pompetamine go rear disc?

  • Maybe if the mini-v has adjustable brake pad positions?

Don't even know if such a thing exists.

  • hi cov - already have a pompino, didn't really want to buy a whole new frame but thinking of going disc upthe front. wanted to keep a rear brake so I can flip the wheel to freewheel for when I need to pull a trailer. Will stick to 700c - was hoping to get a bit of extra toe clearance tho by going 650.

  • You could run a 650b or even a 26" on the front by swapping the forks. Problem is depending on your axle to crown, it will change your BB height and head tube angle.

Quite a few polo players run 700 rear and 26" front setups with pretty much standard MTB forks, this drops the BB a bit and steepens the head tube angle as a result of shorter axle to crown compared to the pompino forks.

  • Maybe if the mini-v has adjustable brake pad positions?

Don't even know if such a thing exists.

Moving the pad down 19mm to reflect the drop in rim diameter from 622mm to 584mm is probably beyond the range of most brakes, and adjusting the pad position would impact on the torque gain of each arm, so even if the pad could move that far, you might need an adjustable lever (eg Avid SingleDigit 7s with the red knob) to dial down the power and regain some modulation.

You'd also be shrinking the arc the pad travels around the pivot so the pad would be running a lot closer to the rim to achieve the same lever bite point.

  • a standard 26" mtb fork will very likely have longer A-C than stock pomp. prpably even enough to compensate for the slightly smaller wheel dieameter depending on tyre size.

700c 32mm rear and 650b 2" front would be a pretty cool setup I think.

  • It will be only longer than stock pompino forks if they are suspension adjusted.

  • Nah...gonna stick to 700c by the sound of it. Just need a pompetamine front fork so I can run the disc up front. Anyone want the carbon fork i'm currently running on my pompino its a kinesis pure cx, looks great with the bathroom blue pomps, less than 6 months old :-).

Any recommendations on drop levers that will do mini v's and disc brakes :-).

  • What size if your pomp? Might have a set of pompetamine forks going spare. Avid has a BB7 road version which has a shorter pull compared to the regular BB7s calipers.

The other alternative is to get some of Tektro's RL520 levers, these are long pull drop levers which allows you to use regular V brakes and BB7s.

I'd be interested in that Kinesis fork. Does it have a loooooooooong steerer though?
