Finally got my pomp built up, nice and dry at the moment so took it for a quick spin in the woods.
gearing seems spot on and the carbon fork, bars and post really smooths out the rutty bits!

Fucking awesome paint job

I'd get that looked at if I were you, probably harmless but it pays to be cautious with rashes.

It's amazing how surprizingly good these bikes can look with carbon fork, conservative components and some creative paint. good job.

You are absolutely right. I hate the Pompetamine fork :/ I wish there was an affordable 1 1/8" full carbon disc fork with straight legs (and eyelets). Spot is very close to what I'd like to have but they haven't been in stock for ages and the longer a2c (400mm) would slacken the already slack sta even more.

Another fork possibility? Same 400mm a-c, though.

New favorite Pomp! So good!

I thought Pomp forks were 400mm

Kevin you're right about the ratios. at the moment i've got 32/16 which makes the lowest gear at 28.5gi completely useless. I want to change to a 36t ring up front which would give me a top gear of 98.1. At the moment i'm riding on the flat in 6th and 7th, so it would be good to bring this further into the middle.
I like the bb routing, nice... I'd go straight for 42t ring, that will put your middle gear at 70gi which is usually the of the peg gear ratio for a reason :)

Yeah I wouldn't play with a jtek lever either... £75 worth of damage the first time you crash!

Enve forks are 395 ;)
-
• #2144
i don;t think enve forks would do injustice on that pomp, already so much bling :) go for it

In photos the stock pomp forks look a bit shit, but in real life I actually thought they work visually pretty well. A bit like layback Thomsons.

+1 to this, currently running pomp forks on me rat biek with hydraulic disc ... wha!? (Fuji track 2009)

The lever isn't the bars or the brakes ;-p

Pedantry. But I like it.

Not feeling that Pink paint job though.
i thought i would have to fix the noodle in place somehow but the tension from the gear cable means that it doesn't move at all, even in the slackest gear.
^^^^^^^ there's not much I could find online about resizing internal hubs, but my understanding is you can only do it effectively with roller brake hubs, like this, not disc, which i'm guessing your alfine would be. taking off the roller brake (or removing the bolt that sits in its place) takes away a big deal, bringing it does to around 126mm. From there you only have to swap the non-drive-side lock nut for one of the thinner ones that are standard on shimano rear hubs. This makes it 122-3mm which easily fits without cold setting. Of course the dish and chain-line gets messed up with all this but i've compensated with an extra short bb.
