What are you building up?

Nothing at the minute, a couple months ago I bought a bike that had 15mm forks with SLX wheels, but I wanted to use my Hope wheels instead, which was easy as you can get Hope adaptors anywhere. I had the SLX wheels and QR forks left over as spare, and after some googling I found loads of people whingeing about how they couldn't adapt 15mm shimano hubs to QR, and only one person saying they actually did it with the Mavic adaptors. I have no idea why Shimano don't make some, they work fine
I almost bought a 29er MT55 front wheel last weekend to replace a wheel on my pompetamine, but decided to get a new rim and rebuild the wheel instead. If I did go for the wheel I would have gone for the 15mm with Mavic adaptors again, just in case

Just dropped the pomp in at the powdercoaters, decided on RAL 4003 heather violet with a clear lacquer with purple glitter in it.
I think it might come out a little bright...

Sounds fabulous.
Sparkle finishes from Armourtex are generally very tidy.

get ready to sit down...
I din't go to armourtex, there's a company local to me that do a lot of motorbike work, the shotblast, coat and glitter is £40
-
• #1932
The advantage of Armourtex is that they do loads of bikes, so they mask the BB threads, head tube bore and steerer without being asked.
-
• #1933
For the difference in price, you could get a full frame prep done by your lbs and still have some beer money left over. Just got to hope the finish is good.

• #1934
I do work in the bike industry luckily, so I did the full strip down and masking myself so the cost is pretty low for me, these local chaps seem to be quite good, but we'll see.
It's not my best bike anyways -

And you reckon they'll be able to resist painting an eagle on it or adding a nudie lady made of chrome?

Schwalbe cx pro, on one external cranks, Planet X al30s and tektro drop levers all ordered for pomp.
One thing left, when I previously put drops on the pomp, it felt all wrong. The cockpit was way too low even at the top of the spacer stack. Pretty sure I need a positive rise stem, to get me into a more upright 'cx' position.
Any recommendations? Cheap and black are the only requirements.

26 or 31.8?
This is OK for 31.8 http://www.wiggle.co.uk/bbb-bhs-25-highrise-oversize-stem/
But it is very high rise. A normal 73° stem already gives a lot of rise when you flip it over, e.g. 100mm×73° lifts the bars by 56mm when you flip it over, have a play at http://alex.phred.org/stemchart/Default.aspx to see what you need. -

Minutes into my new build, I discovered the first issue:
That's the clearance between the crank and the chainstay, and I can make them touch just by pushing it. It's with Miche Primato Cranks and a 110mm Campag Veloce BB. Would it just be a case of getting a BB with a slightly longer spindle? Or should I just bash the chainstay with a hammer?
Shame because I quite like how it's looking so far.
(I don't have a seatpost collar, that will not be my final saddle height)

• #1944
Ain't those cranks tester disapproved?
-
• #1945
Miche are disapproved by a lot of people, but I've been alright with them so far. Plus I needed cranks one day, and these ones are pretty cheap on trade and they were all we had in.

Is that my Arx or your Arx? I need mine if its mine plz. Looks sick. I look forward to seeing it.
-
• #1947
tom, you can have that collar off my genesis
-
• #1948
Now you mention it it might actually be yours JB. But that was completely accidental, and I have only just realised because I have just seen another one in my room. Can you tell the difference? And cheers spatr, I will try it out now.
-
• #1949
I think mine may be shorter than yours? It's 90mm.
You no take my collar after all?
-
• #1950
I've got a 90mm as well, that's why I thought this one was mine. They're basically identical.
Didn't get round to robbing your collar before I saw spatr's post.
if you get the 15mm axle ones, you can probably put some mavic qr adaptors on, got mine for about £8
you never know what you will want in 6 months time
