Oh, I am sorry, but I'm afraid that I can't make it this year. Please take me off the list of participants there. I took a nasty tumble off my Ti road bike three weeks ago and broke my hip! I'm hobbling about on crutches now and trying to get some movement back in the joint. Three Ti bolts in my femur now. Next year I'll go, I promise!

oh dear.. really sorry to hear that - hope you feel better soon

Cheers Tilover. Three more weeks and I should be able to put weight on it again. The movement is improving every day and I'll be on the bike again in a month or so with luck. Good luck to all the lfgss l'eroica riders!

Finally booked my flights, Flying from Prestwick on 28th September and staying in Reggello about 35km NE of Gaiole. In a party of 8 - (6 adults and 2 wee children).
Only 3 of us are riding the event. Not sure about Stephan but Eve and myself will be doing the 135km (training hasn't gone as well as I hoped) and will be wearing a Black/White retro look CTC jersey and white Cinelli hairnet and riding a black 'Henry Burton'
Just got to sort out the ferry to the mainland and get to Glasgow
White Cinelli hairnet with black and white jersey? Sounds like we'll be looking quite similar! Despite the big purple Cinelli label on my hairnet, I haven't got a single Cinelli part on any of my bikes!

Big purple label too, I do have Cinelli bars/stem and toe clips as well ;-)

Hi Team
I have to put some metal toe clips on my 1984 holdsworth to bring it up to spec. My pedals currently have cleats on one side and a flat normal pedal on the other side. Can I get away with adding toe clips to those or do i need traditional pedals ?
Also, I was going to buy a 1980s cycling top but I'm running out of time. Is there an opportunity to buy one the day before the ride ?
Thirdly, I presume your allowed to wear a up to date cycling helmet ?
Sorry if all this is alittle basic, I'm ticking off my list of silly questions !
cheers
Neil

I have a friend who went last year and had a pedal issue like you. The cheeky bastard taped toeclips on his spd shoes and slipped in! The rest of the bike is a stunner so it probably helped to distract attention away from the pedal and feet area!

@ snapper65
To be honest I think the pedals could be a problem if they notice the toeclips, however if you are leaving early in the morning they probably won't see them.
Most people wear modern helmet during the race and on the Saturday you can buy all you need, bike parts, clothes and shoes.

Greetings to all, just joined so this is my first post.
I heard about leroica on another forum, but this one seems to be the only one with good info. (leroica website !? )
Missed out on an entry for this year but me and the wife are driving down and having a week's holiday in Lecchi, should be there for sat's market and the fun on sunday. Hope to spend the rest of the week riding my recently aquired Benotto on some of the route. -

hi there. me and a mate are doing the 205km. Looking forward to it. We're from Edinburgh and we're gonna camp (or sleep in the hire car) I've heard it's cold but we're used to that shit up here. 'm doing it on a pinkish PUCH 531 that we got for a tenner on gumtree and my mate's got a lovely old Raleigh Ti.
Hope to see some of you guys there . Have a great time!! -

We will be in Italy for 2 weeks, packing the car today, take-off tomorrow. First stop is lake Como (and a visit to Madonna del Ghisallo). I hope there's not too much snow in Switzerland and the north of Italy, got some winter tyres fitted just in case! See you all there.
For recognition purposes here's a pic, the guy in the red jersey on the left is me and the cap I'll be wearing is of course the lfgss one.

The Eroica web site http://www.eroica-ciclismo.it/
Btw, if you are there at 9:00 am Saturday morningthere are 100 entries for €100 which goes to a charity. However if you are not too bothered about having a proper registration number and package you can just ride along.. the road are indicated permanently. I stayed in Lecchi last year, not cheap but very nice!
See you there!

Getting very excited about everything. Met-Office weather site is worrying tho' as it is showing 30-46mph gusts from Sat-Mon (that's possible ferry cancellation winds). I am booked on Tuesday lunchtime ferry to Ullapool so that I can drive south for the 7am Wednesday flight from Prestwick.
Will get to see Tuesday's weather on tomorrows 5 day forecast. Hopefully it will be better.
