Oh bugger, they will be going straight back then.

Thats a 9mm thru axel, QR hubs are 5mm
Note the difference in widths:

I know, I found a bargain got over excited and pulled the trigger without thinking.
-
• #3580
Think I will just splash out on the 5mm version, been meaning to replace the skewers since I got the bike

Depending your hubs, you can get new end caps. I've got novatec disc hubs and bought new end caps and rear axle to accept 9mm/10mm axles.
Dunno if I notice much of a difference over Shimano closed-cam QRs, to be honest.

Superstar do 9mm front thru axles.

Are Jagwire Road Pro XL still a good bet for brake cables/housings?
-
• #3584
Should have made it clearer, I was expecting the caliper to be similar sized compared to mtb ones which means larger pads and more bite.
Otherwise why go 4 pots?
-
• #3585
You can still get larger pads, just not by way of larger total cylinder area. Two smaller cylinders adjacent can provide pressure across a larger pad as not all parts of the pad need support.

Otherwise why go 4 pots?
I'm sure some guy has explained it twice already
-
• #3587
4 times.

I have a little adapter screw thing from epic bleed solutions which does the trick, but maybe I will get one of those shimano funnel things
oddly the brake and caliper were completely fine. put the bleed block in after a clean of the pistons and de-oil with some isopropanol and there didnt feel like there was any air in the system at all. cleaned the disc and new pads - all sorted
I guess these pads really are worn? after seeing @hippy 's I thought these had quite a bit of life left in them, guess not. maybe my new rotors are a bit thinner too so the drop in performance was amplified
any 3rd parties sell pads for these brakes or best stick to shimano own ones?

• #3589
if those are as robust as the DT ones then I would highly highly recommend
-
• #3590
That's defintely worn out, and likely to contributed more to a sticky piston if not changed sooner.
-
• #3591
yep I replaced them last night. brake at 100% again now
-
• #3592
That's like asking nodders why they're using a powermeter or why people commuting on carbon rims? I don't know, never having used them, but it's an option that didn't exist previously and might be useful.
-
• #3593
You need 6-pot calipers.
-
• #3594
They look like they've got thousands of miles left on them.
-
• #3595
Mine were down to the metal backing and wore off an arm of the spring. They still worked, they were just noisy.
-
• #3596
Perfect answer from the right guy... ;)
-
• #3597
You've developed a lip on the top of both pads which might be interfering with your brake pressure.
-
• #3598
The "tink a tink a tink a tink" that seems to be coming from my front disc, spyre calliper , should I be experiencing it after a new bike build? Doesn't always seem to happen, is there such thing as a sticky calliper? Does it go away? Back to shop?
-
• #3599
warped rotor?
-
• #3600
Should hope not given they're brand new! :) will take it back to Seabass to see what they say.
Thats the 10mm thru axle front, you can only use it with DT swiss hubs. Somewhere was doing the version you can use with 'normal' QR hubs though for cheap @swedeee got them.
I did find these a while ago for £30:
