They do, which is fine if you are spending other people's money :)
-
• #1103
They're very common on old 80's Raleigh it's seemed.
-
• #1104
This is normal.
When you're in motion, the pads don't move back and forth, it's only when you're stationary and decided to rock the bike back and forth.

Aye that's been my experience since riding it. Thanks!
Cheers guys! I'll check out the ££ on these swisstop and the others and read a couple of reviews.

Touché. Haha.
-
• #1112
wait till you see the prices of mavic exhalith brake pads lol

• #1113
I found that replacing the pads stopped this problem anyway, have used Shimano ones and cheapo planetX and neither of them had the same play that the stock pads did.
-
• #1114
Cheers for the link. I suppose if the swisstop are considered to be twice as good then they are worth the ££. I'll read some reviews on the 3 that have been suggested. Thanks guys.

Bought 2 pairs at the weekend =[ along with some 80mm tubes... Haha.
-
• #1116
Brilliant. Might get them swapped sooner then. They do rattle a little at the moment on some rough surfaces.

• #1117
Shouldn't worry about the stock Spyre pads. They only appear to last for a few hours anyway.

£45 for brake pads!?
What? Google some more: http://www.probikeshop.es/pastillas-swiss-stop-disc15-s-shimano-tektro-quad-trp/108145.html
2 sets of pads = 41,8€ = £31,64 (getting free shipping costs for an order over 60€ = £45,41)

I also use Superstar Components' pads. They offer a good range at a very reasonable price. I swapped out the pads for my Shimano BR-CX77 brakes for a set of Superstar Components ceramic pads and won't be going back.

removable valve core is the way forward
-
• #1121
Careful when doing this on decking with gaps between the boards just wide enough to lose the core.
-
• #1122
Unless you've got a Lezyne pump, in which case they will make you more angry than you ever thought you could be.
-
• #1123
Why?
-
• #1124
Because Lezyne pumps screw onto the valve, you pump the tyre up, unscrew the pump and it unscrews the valve core with it, releasing all air from the tyre. Happened to me three times in a row yesterday on my new bike. Finally managed to get it sorted by greasing the valve first and screwing the pump on so gently as to barely be pushing any air into it.

Basic Shimano resin are ~£7/8 an end... :)
At many other forums like velocipedesalon they always recommend SwissStop 15s (sintered)
