I know this isn't a race but, last time I did it (year before last) we had an issue around finish time interfering with the start for the para's etc.
In the knowledge that there are a few peeps here that would prefer to do this at pace, and that if we do so threre's a greater chance of finishing without annoying anyone: I would like to put propose a TT/TTT group to start first then drop off if one has a mechanical or can't keep up. At which point one picks up with the main group.
Thoughts? (Fox, 6Pt, Shoots)
I'm really up for this. I'd back myself at an average of ~20mph but will definitely get dropped if you aiming to do it at 25mile TT pace.

Tip to anyone. Ideally don't get a puncture, even if you're at the front you'll get dropped. If you hammer it and catch up with a group, make sure it's not the tokyo fixed guys because their sense of direction will be worse than yours.

Provisionally in! I won't add myself just yet, but I defo aim to be there!
I'm always skulking out of any of the rides, but this looks like a good first one to join... -
• #106
Yeah...reading the above I'm now pretty confident I'm not up to it...would probably be quite happy rolling along for 26.5 (or whatever it is) miles but I'd rather take my time over it, and there's clearly a time element at play, eh? Something to aim for next year though!
Great vid btw shootthebreeze!
Don't let that 17mph discourage you, last year when we left the isle of dogs, there were people just arriving, and quite a few of them just doubled back and followed us, skipping that bit.

like any ride some will go off the front
others will just ride at a nice steady pace
just choose the group you want to ride with
there were something like 100 people last year so there'll be someone riding at your pace -
• #108
^ this is very true.
+1I'm not pissing, just gauging interest. It's most likely I'd drop off the back of the wagon at about poplar anyway.

Good ride, that.

Not mine. It was shot by a "late-comer" to the route ; )
I just "feature". Ya know, being in the group that actually crossed the line ; ) -

Right...that's the deal sealed then...I'm thinking if I went at my usual steady pace (which I'm more than capable of exceeding) I'd still do it in about 2 hours, eh? Lack of traffic and being in a pack will bring out the faster poots!
Thanks for encouragement!

Oh noez! He pedalled so much his feet fell off :( I'm not sure I'm so keen now!
