hi t0m, just bear in mind you do have to travel together on a groupsave. we will be travelling down on the saturday (around midday from london i believe) and travelling back on the monday.

looking forward to this ride. will be eight in a row, and the sixth one fixed after using gears last year.

I am worrying that I haven't thought of lots of things. My primary concern right now is: How will we make tea? I get really cranky without tea. And have no stove or similar instrument.

Yes. You can't get them from machines. I can't find the groupsave I mentioned before @ £27.50 I'm afraid, I must have pressed the wrong button :(

You want a groupsave off peak return to Ryde, which for 4 people is £156, so £39 each.

Sorry for getting your hopes up there. The National Rail system is beautiful and strange... It's still the cheapest way to do it as you're only paying £18 each for the return train trip in effect.

You could do it for £135.20 (£33.80 each for 4) with a 'hoversave', but this involves changing onto a bus at Portsmouth and Southsea, getting on a bus to Southsea Hoverport and getting a hovercraft from there. You may not want to do this.
