I rate Cubitts. I've had a pair from them for a few years, they snapped in half when I was wiping them once, I sent them an email, well outside of the guarantee to moan about it and they posted me a new pair within a few days. They were originally only going to replace the frames, saw that the lenses were scratched and replaced them for free as well.

I’ve usually found it takes week to 10 days. Am a returning customer as there are a number of frames that I really like. Also as a returning eye test (resulting in slight prescription change) I have a month to make a decision on my frame update and still benefit from the eye test + frame discount which is nice. Currently looking to update my everyday frames to sunnies and get new every days :) have only experienced the Carnaby store which has a constantly changing team yet always good service.

Good to hear.
Appointment is tonight, but just got a call from them all apologies the optometrist has called in sick and they are having to cancel all appointments today.
Rebooked for Friday and they will not charge for the eye test for the inconvenience.
Good customer service and I'm not even a customer (yet)! -

I work there.
A week is generous and allows for the less standard prescriptions. It'll be closer to 3 days if your prescription is mild.

+3.x and astigmatism, no idea how weird that is.
It's all good tinewise, I won't be collecting them for maybe 2 weeks. -

Yeah, that's pretty standard.

Managed to destroy my glasses last night...any interesting sources for non standard NOS glasses?

I got some NOS American Optical Hybrids from ebay seller jrzgrl1020.
They're just frames of course, and needed some work with the dremel and sandpaper to fit my 24mm bridge, but I really like them. -

I had a pair for two years, got them reglazed, they snapped after a couple weeks. I was just sitting at home quietly, glasses on face, hear the "snap". Unnerving. They replaced with the same, I figured there might be a weakness from popping lenses out and in, they broke where the nose pad foot is screwed into the acetate. The new pair snapped after 10 months, while I was standing on station platform in the morning, did a comedy day's work without them, got my lenses put in new frame in the evening. They snapped in the same place but Cubitts people said it wasn't common, so I got same style different colour. Less speckling. The snap was where the nose pad is screwed in, but also where two colours of acetate meet, so trying to avoid that potential weakness.
Haven't paid for either of these replacements. Good service. -

Could it be the lenses being a smidge too big?

I hate going to glasses shops/opticians etc and trying things on. It's 2019 and I don't care about privacy. Is there a way I can scan my head with my phone and see an avatar of myself with different models/colours etc?

their website is unusably slow (at least for me and my moderate patience quota)

Personally I would go a titch smaller all around.

Anyone have a particular recommendation for a place (offline/online) to get new lenses installed in glasses? Ive got some NOS frames coming my way and looking for somewhere good and affordable...

Aviator with a lazy brow-bar

Sorry to say I'm not following you.

The frame is an aviator with a lazy brow-bar. As in, it droops. If you're looking for a simialr frame then that's what you'll need to search for.
If you're asking for the brand and name, no idea. I'd be very very surprised if someone could identify it.

Ah ok, I gotcha.
Thank you for your help!
Anyone got experience with Cubitts?
I have an eye test there next week (Kings Cross) and plan to get a pair of their glasses.
Wondering if the website propaganda of about a week for orders to be fulfilled is accurate?
