Proper jeans, but 2nd hand. I'd check ebay, I've picked up several pairs of hardly worn Edwin, Albam, etc for £25-35
Great recommendation! Just bagged a pair of Edwin jeans for a cheeky offer of £16!

Me when selling: Fucks sake, eBay is just full of cheapskates.
Me when buying: I wonder if they will take £4.50 delivered for those jeans

On the Edwin chat, anyone know how skinny Edwin 85 are vs say Levis 511 slim fit?
Cheers.

Lined/quilted overshirts. Talk to me.
I have a Howies one that I love (bought off here 2nd hand), and a ropey cheapo one a mate gave me. Howies don't seem to make padded/lined overshirts any more. I've had a quick look at Finisterre who have a few ok options. I quite like plaid/checkered etc, but not a fan of what Finisterre have on offer. Carhartt have an ok looking one but it has weird extra side pockets for some reason.
Any places to check out?

Coffin Outerwear? Just heard of them, instagrams might be the best way to contact him.
Or Big Bill! https://bigbill.com/products/lined-premium-flannel-work-shirt/ -

They’re kinda right but not quite nice enough. The Howies one sits in just the right spot of nice enough to want to wear it, but not so nice that I’d be scared to wear it. If you get what I mean.
It’s a fairly specific niche tbf.

Big Bill is abso-fucking-lutely on the money.
Let’s see if I can get an American pal to hook me up!

I was given a Filson flannel lined wool Jac shirt for Christmas. It’s awesome, warm and snug the moment you put it on, has hand warmer pockets, the heavy wool will keep out most rain and has poppers for quick adjustment for opening/closing and heat management.

In New England, “Downeast” denotes the “never-never land always east
of where you are.”what a crock, Downeast just means the coast of Maine. It has something to do with sailing, but I don't remember what.

Arket vs Asket who copied who?
-
• #4092
Asket came first. Asket's first IG post was in Feb 2015. Arket opened on Regent Street in 2017.

Hmm and arket is part of h&m, that’s pretty wack

Anyone found a source of relaxed fit merino T-shirts that don’t look like pyjamas?

• #4095
Decathlon? Not 100% merino and unfit (geddit) for the fashion thread but I was happy with a couple of these over a month long hike last summer: https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/techwool-500-men-s-short-sleeved-hiking-t-shirt/_/R-p-106266?mc=8492190
edit - can't go wrong with Icebreaker either.

Pocket bags vs sewn on externals - is there a practical difference/do you have a preference?
-

I'd be interested if you're happy to post (at my expense)?
Just torn a big hole in my current pair sitting on a nail when taking up floorboards...

Just got a casentino wool workshirt from Percival, bloody lovely.

Pocket bags tend to be more fragile.

Mostly an aesthetic decision then?
I have a couple of pairs of Dickies pants 1x slim fit (black) 1x slim straight (grey), both are 34/32, both currently too small for my 36 waist.
Feels like I've worn and washed the black ones at least once, grey ones still have that stiff, just brought from the shop feel.
If anyone's interested let me know before I sling them onto ebay.
Some pictures.
