  • On the topic of goals, I can't keep our ones in my shed indefinitely. Once the lawn-mowing, garden-maintaining, tandem-riding season arrives I'm going to want to get in and out of there and there isn't room to do that.

Option 1 - leave them outside behind my shed (they'll probably rust and then I won't want to move them anywhere)

    Option 2 - donate them/scrap them

Option 3 - get them split and painted and I can put them in my loft (Neil's job).

Option 4 - somebody else takes them off me.

I will take option 1 or option 2 if somebody else doesn't take the lead on option 3 or 4 before mid-March, I guess.

First things - Shall we get them painted and leave them behind your shed?

Who's got a car to take them to the powder coaters on their way to work in digbeth?

Then we can split them ourselves (I can do this but only in nice weather and with some prodding).

  • I can take them and get them painted at Bournes - need money from BHBPA though (guessing £30-40) do we think it's worth it, especially as this is the second set? I suppose it depends how much Lucas' goals cost as they are way better than what we have, design-wise, so maybe we could just buy some of those.

I also still have the aluminium bases, which can stay there indefinitely, or we can scrap them and use the money for painting/new goals. Ni idea how much we'd get for them though.

  • I am donating the goals I bought to BHBPA. The second goal should be here for this Sunday. I do want to get the back middle connector bit sorted out (use some of the various parts i did not use in the build)

  • I think it would be pointless scrapping the reynolds goals. Lets get them painted and I'll stick them in my loft and we can use them for proper event/tourneys and use Lucas's more collapsable goals for weekend polo?

Re Lucas's what was the weight like? Did they move around as much as the reynolds goals?

  • Awesome, thanks Lucas!

In that case, how about I hacksaw the goals I have into two/three pieces, store in my/LJ's loft and we can see about re-joining them if/when we ever want to do a two-court tournament again.

IMO, Lucas' goals were much better than our ones. Far more stable (it didn't topple or get caught on a bike at all on Sunday), proper nets and easily detachable/storable/transportable).

Can I scrap/get rid of the aluminium bases?

  • They moved very little. If an issue in future the hollow tubes could easily have something heavy added inside.

  • Exciting - will try and get along Sunday but have a heavy night planned Saturdayso can't make any promises.

  • Don't chop one set of goals at least! I'll put them in the foundry.

  • The other set of goals is still at the warehouse, I think. This is the superflous third set of goals.

  • you can sell the aluminium bases in stirchley, next to the greasy spoon.

  • next to the greasy spoon.

    Two stars.

  • Thoughts?

  • I like.

Opposite tac to the last one (which had two locals on) which could be good or bad, but we won't know unless we try. I like how it's crowded and 'aspirational' although I just sicked in my mouth even typing that word in relation to polo.

You printing? Would be good to flyer-up the Kings Heath bike night thing.

  • Wolverhampton invited. I'll spread the word around various channels on monday and do some printing next week too.

  • can someone put the image up on facebook.

  • Same day as the Mad March Hare so might not be able to get there till 2ish. Can loan bike though just incase another leftie turns up. Will tack some fliers with me but doubt many people doing the ride will want to head into town and ride in circles.

    Is CM friday before?

  • Do we want to do a mini invitational in March, 17th ?

Shall we do a Bristol warm up/mini invitational in April? Sunday 7th or 14th?

  • I like the idea, but the second weekend is bad for me. The former is too, unless we don't go to 2 v 2.

If we do either, I really think it's worth suggesting it as a 'weather permitted' thing so that people don't book train tickets for a really wet day. Rain can't be avoided, but in the summer it should at least be mild. In march, standing around in the rain? No thanks.

  • Is March 14th a Thursday?

  • Oops, meant 17th.

  • I can do March 17th.

Do we do it as an invitational, or make it a self-selecting 'intermediate' tournament? Could say something like - 'no experts and no beginners; you won't have won a tournament but you will have been to a few', or something like that. I think invitationals get people's backs up, but to be fair I can deal with that if it makes life easier and means better games.

  • Half and half it. lets invite some people for grudge matches and then open it up.

  • Same as last time. Give each local scene some spots, let them decide who comes.

  • Finley! are shafts here?
