I always think team tournaments are the most enjoyable, and I think most other people think the same too. Sure, there are lots of tournaments, but some people haven't been to any (me and Hyper) yet and they all have a different dynamic. Our mini one last year was really good for middling teams as there were no big-8 teams doling out 5-0 thrashings. The game is still young, and doesn't need spicing IMO.
A normal tournament could be promoted a bit, to try to raise interest, and people wearing their team kits makes the game so much more understandable for passers by.
Anyway, I'm just voicing my opinion - majority rules (grrrr, stupid democracy), and would happily take part in whatever is decided.
Word of warning though - Bench Minor usually means less time for weaker players, and unless you're selfish, even when you do get on court you feel guilty for stinking it up and pretty much just stay in goal.

I vote for one horse per team!

I collected the goals (bases, uprights and nets) from 2Squeak tonight. My missus has dibsed the car on Sunday though, so can't bring this week, unless someone else wants them.
They need some fabrication, mainly attaching the uprights to the bases, which would need a drill and some fairly chunky bits. The uprights are pretty spiky, so we'd need something to cover the tops of those, too (I've seen old Franklins/Harveys cut in half, but something bigger/sturdier would be preferable).
Anyone feeling inclined to take over the project? Next Sunday is Skyride, so it would be nice to get them done by then.

I'd like to help, but i'm super busy for a bit now what with moving and all that. I have a drill though if anyone wants to borrow it...
-
• #1181
I've got a drill, but my handyman/DIY skills are not great (just look at my mallets), and I wouldn't be able to live down the shame of fucking it up.
If mallet-manufacture standards are anything to go by, Rob is our man!

Dan, I'm still at home if you want to drop them off. My skills are awful, I vote Fin/Matt/Rob.
In regards to that SkyRide polo request, I'm seeing that guy on Monday so will test the waters subtly.

Fin/Matt? I reckon they're worse than me!
No point bringing them over now. I'll keep hold of them til I can drive them to polo. It wouldn't take a genius to make them a bit more transportable, though.
They look cool though - can't wait to get them sorted!

Harsh. Both have made me decent things...oh hang on, look at my mallet!
Let me know about goals, will be at home or at Cherry Reds round the corner if beers completely flops (looks like it).

Matts garage is a fucking goldmine!
-
• #1186
How did that go today?
-
• #1187
Good! I want Matts dogs. But not all of them. And not all the time. His new bike is superlight.

Cut the spikey bits off with a pipe cutter, no need for them. Within the 'drawings' you gave me they are in perfect size. Take a tape to the bottom of the the uprights to the top, spot on size without the spikes.
Sorry..would a chef like to cook when he gets home?? ;)

I meant in an equipment/tent sorting kind of way!? But cool story...
-

Ah! Tents were rubbish. Andy has good sized ones but they are too awkward to carry. We might do a ride out to tesco/decathlon to look at tents and sleepingbags in the week....

Me and the missus are going to Go Outdoors in Coventry on Tuesday. Could portage up to two of you schmucks in exchange for non-sexual future-favours.

What time?! I'm teaching til 3ish. In all honesty, I think if we put a callout people will come forward with plenty of stuff. I'll add tents to the list but I forgot about this chap on Bham Cyclist, I'll check them out:
Terry Lilley left a comment for Jess Duffy
Hello Jess - we met at the April Critical Mass ride, I have two lightweight tents you can borrow for your Berlin expedition. Let me know if you would like them, Terry. -

I've been outdoors in Coventry before, it's just the same as being indoors except it's colder

Tape?! Are they that lightweight?
Le sigh.

Dan had a secret cry around the back of my garage when he realised they where not Titanium.

Okay, probably going to depart soon after rush hour (9.30ish). Can pick you up en route. Could bring the goals to you then, if I don't have any Saturday brainwaves.

Ok, sounds like a plan Dan.
@mothergulp u still hosting this bbq Sunday?
-
• #1200
Sure, what time? 3pm? As long as the weather holds out. My lovely housemate carried the BBQ all the way home in the rain! But bring yours too and keep the veggies happy.
I'm on the phone to London Ladies' Hardcourt Bike Polo Club as we speak.
Good job you're all big girls then...
