  • Cute, reminds me that I need to replace my saddle shoes... Mine are absolutely shagged... :[

Love them, Mrs.Nuknow is a fan too:

  • Those desert boots are nice, but they have moved away from being desert boots and are something much different. Like the idea of replacing the sole, with something a bit tougher.

  • And lighter, Vibram soles are weightless.

  • If you're investing in a pair of fine english shoes you should consider jumping on the train to Northampton, we've got Church's, Loakes, Barkers, Trickers et al in the town and surrounding villages, and most of them have factory shops with awesome bargains.

Cheers for the tip-off. My sister lives up that way, might have to take a trip up there when I have some spare dorrah. I got some Loakes Oban black brouges from Men's Traditional Shoes in Camberwell. At £80 they're not the cheapest, but proper leather soles, and after a year of occasional use they seem to be easing nicely to my bizarrely shaped feet.

Can't recommend the shop enough, proper old style with just stacks of boxes on the walls and a few display models around the place. The guy in there lets you browse and take your time, no pressure.

  • I'm very envious of my friends new leather desert boots from clarkes.

I just looked online and they're reduced from £75 to £50, expect they dont have them in size damn it!

They're shite quality, honestly. I'd be amazed if my four month old ones last the rest of Winter. They may be authetic because they're Clarks, but Clarks have gone to shit now that they make everything as cheaply as possible in the far East. There are a few great renditions of desert boots by other makers that put Clarks to shame.

  • Got a couple of pairs of these from a tj-maxx type place in the states. Obsessive care advice here, including the use of petrol (and a serious warning against waterproofing)

madness and the clash were/are some of its customers

  • ^ I used to get my Etons in there when I was a nipper...

  • teen, being a brixton boy myself,i used to get my DM's and levis from brixton market when i was a nipper,my first home was above the sunlight laundry on brixton hill

P.S. Just mapped it. That's exactly the place I thought of when pondering this idea.

  • Be warned - the handmade shoes are expensive but it's a brilliant shop.

  • oh

    fuck

    yes

  • I am not a fan when the sole sticks out that much, are they snow shoes?

Also the contrasting sole to upper does not do it for me.

  • I'm with you there James.

    sorry Joshie darling.

  • And the laces - so much fail for a pair of shoes, so nearly good. (Should I mention the eyelets too?)

  • I'm with you there James.

    sorry Joshie darling.

It's not a problem Henners, I couldn't give a fuck what either of you think! I wouldn't buy them but they are killer.

(Should I mention the eyelets too?)

    Nah, don't bother.

  • superprecise the upper on them looks like loake royal brogues

  • superprecise the upper on them looks like loake royal brogues

Royals are an American-style long wingtip brogue...

  • simple, and effective but no goodyear welt

  • I'll settle for that.

  • I'm with you there James.

Scarily enough, I have to agree with prancer too... even though I'm agreeing against my will.

  • Andyp had to agree with me on the merino thread today. Clearly its the post xmas mental meltdown!
