  • yeah, thanks edward. I mainly wanted to get a better grip on wet pavement and the likes.

I find that once leather soles have worn in a bit and gone a bit sued-y, the grip in the wet is quite good. However, I carry a pair of Springyard silicone galoshes with me pretty much at all times in the work week.

Great in the wet but a warning; fucking lethal on metal grates.

  • Fucking lethal to look at too

  • Please excuse the hoisted trousers...

  • A very handsome pair of shoes sp, the only point that niggles is the asymmetric lacing

    And the UniQlo socks?

    VERY nice pair of rhythms.

    Envious...

  • And the UniQlo socks?

Yeah those too! Was really just lounging around at the lady's place. They're full of holes.

    Symmetry's overrated ;-)

  • your avatar says otherwise

  • Some things are symmetrical but it's not important, to me anyway.

  • After a break-in period that was pure agony, during which I nearly sold them thinking they were just not the right shape for me, my Red Wing chukkas are now so fucking comfortable it's brilliant. Really robust and supportive too. Ace.

  • Has anyone successfully polished their shoes a shade darker?

  • my dad has a strange ongoing project with a pair of brown longwings that he insists on only polishing with black wax.
I think they look good in their own way now changing between black and dark brown according to the light.
I don't think I would mix brown and black myself though. wouldn't know which belt to wear with the shoes.

Yes, I used this. It was more an unintended side effect of waterproofing

  • Takes polishing to a whole new level!

This is the kind of issue that keeps me up at night.

    Just seen this.
Along with Stonehedge's new Rolex. Fucken well done, these are mint.

    Totes Jel!

Its pretty much standard tradition with brown and red toned (burgundy, ox-blood etc.) shoes to mix different shades of paste wax to highlight patina. Brown toned shoes are especially suited to this practice but a bit of black added to ox-blood does produce some great effects. Black shoes are comparatively boring with art limited to where to put the high gloss shine and where not.. but black is black.. and the old saying about the city is still more or less valid..

Been thinking about getting them too, pricey but look quality.

Just a shame he's naused up the laces

  • Boxfresh innit, therefore 'display' laced.

  • Why do you care about someone else's opinion on the way you lace your shoes?

Really? Should we close the thread? I think perhaps it's for the best.

  • please excuse the hoisted trousers...
