  • Are they the fabric mock-ups or the real thing?

Denim suede. Here's the brown version:

They've got proper leather soles that don't show up too well in the image.

You're walking a fine line there, fucken racist.

  • i forgot to bid for these and they sold for £15.00

  • Had a look at those £600 cordovan Alden longwings in Present earlier. Oh my days, badman tings. The colour is faptastic.

  • For someone that hates Present you seem to spend a lot of time in there??

  • he means braaptastic

  • a) never said I hated it
    b) was getting coffee
    c) was that a question?

  • Say what you like, but its still a beautiful shoe.

And if you had bothered to read my (unedited) post, it says that the only one I liked was the 4th one, which is that ^^^^^. Its lovely.

  • Why post all the other rubber shoes then?

  • They are simply examples of a craftsman's work......... which this thread was supposed to be highlighting.

  • Shoes - I like them, I want learn to make them, anyone know of a good course for beginners? I know about some of the techniques and a friend of mine is a shoe designer so I know some of the theory, but what I'd like is something hands on that I could get my teeth into. I don't want to do a degree, I just want to learn the practicals, sort of like a vocational night course.

  • I think it's fairly straight forward to make say moccasins, but to make a proper shoe I'd assume you'll need a fair chunk of specialty tools. Would be an amazing thing to learn though

  • yeah I's really like to make a quality pair of leather soled proper boots which could last a lifetime. I've been so dissapointed with the quality of boots which I like the look of , and the styling of some boots which are high quality, like Trickers, etc

I'd like top make some nice brogue boots, but a bit rougher, and less punching than these:

  • and obviously I want them specifically made by me, for me, a bit less of a special needs thickness sole, etc. I have size 11 feet and want them to be as slim as possible while retaining ruggedness and strength.

  • If you want custom, I think both Trickers and Vibergs will make them for you?

    check http://www.shoehealer.co.uk/

  • there's several options mobidog:

you could attempt to get apprenticed somewhere in Northampton probably,

or start on a course at cordwainers college > http://www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/about/the-college/cordwainers/

or make it up as you go along!

  • ......... which this thread was supposed to be highlighting.

This isn't your thread you spastic.

  • the red and white shoes and the green shoes i posted up page were made by a man who is not a cobbler by trade but wanted to learn. his blog is worth looking at i think.

In my quest to start my own shoe line, I went to Italy to learn the art of shoe making by hand. I did this because I wanted to be an owner of a shoe company who actually knew everything that there was to know about shoes, most importantly the construction and being able to justify why my shoes will cost what they do. During that time, and even still when I get some free time, I was able to make some shoes for myself that pretty much represent me and my style sense. Obviously some of them are relatively ostentatious, as you will see, but when it's bespoke, the leather presents itself, and you are not afraid to try something crazy, this is what happens. I hope that you all enjoy the pictures.
