I guess they needed something achievable and a that's their gimmick.
Hmm.. 500 beers... -

500 mince pies

It's (sort of) 50k, well- it's 53k, so ~10% of the cycle distance.

Running cost 5 times as much energy compared to cycling - I read somewhere.

Running is five times shitter than cycling though.
For the 500 the misses and I are cycle touring arround the east cape in NZ. Almost exactly a 500k loop. Unfortunatly, strava is going to crap out in most areas due to lack of any phone, internet, anything remotely close to tecknology. Cant wait!

You do understand that GPS works everywhere don't you?

I find it often shits the bed in NZ though (on the phone, not the misses garmin). Also no reception for uploading the data.

Not really, that is why I got KOM on the Glandon.

Technically, it's supposed to, but in my experience also it's fucking rubbish in NZ. I'll be doing the 500 round the coromandel on aged steel w downtube shifters. hopefully won't be too rainy.
Like to see some pics of your tour PGM when you're done, sounds awesome.

Why arnt you on the ti? Sounds good though. Some EVIL hills in the coromandel (that we missed in K2 because I ran away to London and you decided to wuss out of riding to have babys).
Also, its christmas, ALWAYS raining in NZ (right in the middle of summer when everyone is on holiday)

You can upload activity up to 3rd Jan 2014. Will you be back by then?

Reset date and time on Garmin to days between xmas and new year. Do the miles now so you can enjoy the holiday time without missing out on friends and holiday relaxation. Also prevents you from saying the name of a clothing label over and over in such a short space of time.
As an aside I'm thinking of doing the M&S 4lb Turkey Challenge and the Lagavulin 1995 Distillers Edition 35 Units One Day Classic.

do you get a badge for either of those?

What's the weather like in Japan?
Cold (freezing at night, ~8 during the day).
-
• #621
You get a badge for the Lagavulin one but it's not the one you're thinking.

I've started the running one, wishing that the rain would blow through before the 500 starts- sadly it doesn't look like that is going to happen.

• #623
Yeah, this was a good idea.

Indoor carting and ice hockey for me.
